Why do you think this is?
Surely any policeman worth his salt would want to nail a big case?
Yet so many cover ups
IMO and its just an opinion they were either persuaded otherwise or directly involved

Did you hear World At One today on Radio4?

Distressing for Simon Danczuk receiving hundreds of reports of child abuse from victims coming forward. Policitians amongst the accused.

Report by Becky Milligan - from 27.12 onwards

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0499j2t

P.S. My initial impulse was to tick the box that said round up the police officers who allowed this, but listeing to one retired police officer that came forward, he said that after one raid on a hotel where they found boys in bed with politicians, all the police officers were threatened never to mention it again or else their jobs and pensions would go.

It may sound like a tough call but I have to disagree. Look at it logically... people putting their own financial interests ahead of acting lawfully is the exact same motivation that drives many criminals. Or to put it another way: if you excuse any police officers because they felt compelled to act dishonestly because they had a mortgage to pay and their future security in retirement to consider, then you  also have to excuse any burglar or robber who also uses that as their excuse.   However, having said the above, if we want to seriously tackle this problem and expose the web of lies and control then I accept some form of terms for an 'amnesty' would be necessary to protect, and thus encourage, whistleblowers.

I tend to agree with you in that particular case - especially if there were a few officers who were threatened - they would have had strength in numbers to report it.  A guy on his own would have been out on his ear and his future life ruined.

Well you never know.

It might have been previous Home Secretaries that stopped the investigations.

The list of Home Secretaries is interesting.

I wonder if we'll find out who blocked it three times?

Who was it who said, 'Absolute power, absolutely corrupts? Something like that.

Anyway, I look at the current situation as lining up a thousand dominoes next to each other and pushing the end one. As long as they are all close enough, every last one of them will fall.

Many 'former senior police officers' and 'Home Secretaries' (funny how the word 'secret' is in their title) have probably gone to their graves knowing of the corruption they have helped to cover up.

It was William Hague who set restrictions into the Welsh Inquiry, ordering that the Inquiry could only invesitgate abuse allegations that took place in Gwynedd and Clwyd since 1974 and not anywhere else.

"When Mr Hague announced the Waterhouse Inquiry in 1996, he said its job was to "inquire into the abuse of children in care in the former county council areas of Gwynedd and Clwyd since 1974". Mr Messham said the remit prevented Sir Ronald, a former judge, from looking into abuse outside the two areas but which was linked to staff at the care homes.
He said: "These terms of reference sti-fled the inquiry and meant that my allegations and others were not fully investigated. Mr Hague has some questions to answer about the terms of reference of the report."

Politicians don't do what is in our best interests.

They do things in their best interests.

We need a better, more open, more accountable, honest system.

This one is corrupt.

I think that if you want to be an MP you should agree to carry a web cam 24/7 - harsh but if you really want the job, those are the rules, it's that important.

They are elected to represent  US  the people, not banks, corporations and other interest groups.

...99% of politics serves just 1% of the population

... Don't fall for the fallacy it's all judges, media-moguls, millionaires (& doctors!) that are the ones to 'spot'!

To ensure you get away with a scam you need to be able to call upon the help of all manner of 'grades' in society... Indeed, people from the rank and file such as car-sprayers (able to swap VIN plates when required), council workers (able to access databases and amend entries) and even bin-men, (who, as far as I am told, can ALWAYS be relied upon to dispose of something permanently for a few 'cheery beers'),

Bear in mind... The lower echelons of a corrupt hierarchical society (such as ours) might, in practice, be just as manipulated and/or unaware of each and every crime that's being 'whooshed' as the rest of us...Sadly, the ceremonially bestowed 'honour' of being "re-born", (with all its threats and anecdotes of retribution), means that some people (always in practical key positions, from "bin-man on the streets" to "Royal"), will always be susceptible to have rank pulled on them when something goes wrong (as it inevitably does!).

... When the Horns of Jericho call out for people to 'pull rank', you'll be amazed at just how very little of what has actually happened will ever reach the ears of the uninitiated !

Amazing how quiet some things can be on the, ahem, 'news' front, when other topics of questionable grounding are wheeled out with such sensationalism and fanfare, today's 'topic du jour' about Mcs being 'trolled' being a case in point.

Oh, and don't forget we must be kept informed of the important issues of the day!

The comings and goings of big bummed 'celebrities' and their families.
Celeb gossip.
D list celebs and their latest fashion collections.
Celeb scandal.
Z list celebs modelling the said fashion collections.
More celeb gossip.
Sundry 'news reports' copied and pasted from local papers from around the country. 'Mum shocked to find fire breathing dragon in pot noodle she gave to her child....etc'
Oh, and the odd report on the ongoing war being waged in the middle east.
The list goes on, ad infinitum.

So, what with all this important stuff needing to be reported on, there's probably no room left to keep the public informed about the facts in cases such as Cyril Smith and all the other prominent figures who brazenly used their positions of power to abuse young children. Oh, I might add- it's okay to report the salacious stuff, but actual enquiries which might bring up pertinent facts as to how these vile beings seem to be allowed to get away with their behaviour, despite the authorities being aware???? Keep that quiet. Keep the lid on that can.

Cover ups, cover ups and more cover ups is what the press and media is all about today.

ETA hence the importance of free speech on fora such as this one. Looks like that's on the way out going by recent developments.

Suggestion on https://twitter.com/hashtag/ElmGuestHouse?src=hash that Carlton, having bought out ATV who had made a documentary revealing Westminster pd’s, were then responsible for burying it.

This was around the time that DC was an executive there, although there is no evidence that he was involved in this. It would however be interesting to find out whether such a documentary was ever made by ATV.

Unrelated as such but of interest, the reported Jill Dando ‘pd at the BBC dossier’ was also around this time.

Jimmy Saville: Operation Yewtree cops probe 12 suspects in positions of power

Oct 05, 2014 06:00
By Fionnuala Bourke

Senior police officers, civil servants, politicians and council chiefs mow being investigated over historic child sex abuse allegations

Operation Yewtree cops are investigating historic child sex abuse allegations against a further TWELVE public figures.
Unlike previous suspects who were celebrities, the latest accused are senior police officers, politicians, local authority chiefs and senior civil servants.
It is claimed that they either sexually abused child victims, or have been directly involved in covering up offences spread over three decades.
The crimes are said to have been committed in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Names of the suspects have been passed to the police by investigative reporter and criminologist Mark Williams Thomas, whose TV documentary finally exposed Jimmy Savile as a predatory paedophile.
Williams Thomas, a visiting lecturer at Birmingham City University, revealed details of the latest investigations on the second anniversary of his ITV documentary Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile.
Celebrity publicist Max Clifford, children’s entertainer Rolf Harris and radio and TV presenter Stuart Hall have all been jailed as a result of the police probes that followed the programme. Many others have been arrested.
In an earlier interview with the Sunday Mercury Williams Thomas said that two more British icons were being investigated by Yewtree officers. Since then both Cliff Richard and DJ Dr Fox have been linked to inquiries.

Investigations into both are still ongoing. But Williams Thomas warned that the probe into historic allegations against the 12 new public figures could prove even more difficult, given their positions of power and influence.
They could also be dangerous. As a result of his investigations into Savile, the journalist received a letter bomb and a death threat which were dealt with by police.
“I know of another twelve public figures and that is a minimum,” Williams Thomas, who grew up in Solihull, told the Sunday Mercury as he attended the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham.
“It just takes one person brave enough to come forward. Then, as the investigations start to unfold, more victims tell their stories.
“The names I have supplied are senior police officers, politicians, local authority officials and senior civil servants – people with a lot to lose.
“After Savile I got letter bombs and death threats. That’s nothing compared to what you will get with politicians and the like.
“There will be dirty games played, a campaign to undermine those investigations. The only way to do it is through a proper inquiry, to have properly skilled investigators to dig out more evidence.
“There are hundreds of victims. Savile had close to 1,000. Offenders don’t offend in isolation, and they continually offend.
“The offences date back to the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. Some go back to the 1950s. The accused are old people now. If we leave it too long they will die or be dying, or have gone senile.”
Since the Savile programme several reviews have been established, including the Westminster child abuse inquiry, which was announced by Home Secretary Theresa May in July.

The inquiry was ordered to investigate claims that politicians may have sexually abused children in the 1970s and 1980s in a conspiracy by members of the establishment who then used their power to cover up the crimes.
But the inquiry has hit a number of obstacles and Williams Thomas says he is concerned that it will fail to achieve its goals.
Its first chairwoman, retired judge Lady Butler-Sloss, stepped down just days after her appointment following criticism due to her brother, Lord Michael Havers, being the Attorney General at the time of the alleged paedophile scandal.
Former Lord Mayor of London, Fiona Woolf, was named as the new head of the independent inquiry last month.
But Williams Thomas said there are concerns that she has not had enough time to begin the inquiry.
“The future challenge for the inquiry is to get an appropriate panel who have the skills to investigate,” said the investigator.
“I have not yet seen that reflected in the appointments so far. There are no people in the field of child abuse. You need people with a record of investigating and holding people to account.
“There are former social workers and police officers who are readily suited to perform these roles but who have not been approached.”

HOW DID JIMMY SAVILE GET AWAY WITH IT FOR SO LONG?

The aftermath of the Jimmy Savile revelations is still unfolding.
The big question remains: how did a revered and decorated BBC DJ and presenter, fundraiser, friend of the Royal Family and papal knight go unchallenged for so long?
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt apologised on behalf of the Government and NHS to Savile’s victims following the publication of the Department of Health investigations in June.
He said that Savile repeatedly exploited the “trust of a nation” for his own “vile purposes” as it emerged that the DJ had boasted of performing sex acts on bodies in at least two hospital mortuaries.
A litany of rape and sexual abuse carried out by Savile in NHS institutions over at least five decades until 2009 was disclosed in 28 official reports.
The reviews detailed how Savile abused dozens of people ranging from staff and patients and toddlers to pensioners, as he visited hospitals as a celebrity fundraiser and volunteer.
It also emerged that members of staff at a number of NHS hospitals had been told of incidents of Savile’s abuse but failed to pass on complaints to senior managers, who could have taken action to protect his victims.
Ongoing reviews include those by the BBC, Stoke Mandeville and Broadmoor.
In addition there are investigations into how officers dealt with allegations against Savile within the forces of West Yorkshire, Sussex and Surrey.
Williams Thomas said: “It is a shame that we can never wipe Savile out of history.
“But in years to come we may look back on Savile and say ‘He was a dangerous predatory paedophile, but he enabled change to occur’.
“If it was not for the five women who came forward with their allegations against him, who put their confidence in me to make the programme, it would never have gone to the police.
“They took a huge risk. I took a risk – if it had gone wrong I may never have worked again – but I had confidence in myself and my producer to develop a programme that was easily understood, simple and not sensational.
“The stone over the hole has been pushed to the side. We’ve got to keep pushing it off. It is a quarter to halfway off. There is still a long way to go.
“No matter how long ago, these offences must be reported. They need to be brought out into the open. There may be someone else who has reported the same offender.
“But one failed investigation has the potential to ruin it for every other investigation. That’s why great care needs to be taken, checks made and support given.”

And GOVERNMENT KNEW

Post by PeterMac on 14.10.14 14:43

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/child-abuse-inquiry-to-examine-claims-john-major’s-government-failed-to-act/ar-AA6M8Km

The independent inquiry into the apparent failure of politicians and public bodies to investigate historical sex abuse will examine allegations that John Major’s government failed to act when it was informed of widespread abuse at a children’s home frequented by the late paedophile MP Cyril Smith.
The inquiry has been told that in 1995, detailed claims of rape and sexual grooming of pupils at Knowl View school were sent to the office of Gillian Shephard, the then education secretary.
But instead of intervening, senior civil servants referred the dossier back to the council, the Guardian has learned. Shephard, who is now a baroness, confirmed that her office received the file but insists she knew nothing about it.
Paperwork from the department for education about the dossier has been passed on to the Home Office institutional abuse enquiry, headed by Fiona Woolf. She is examining allegations that figures in Westminster and Whitehall were implicated in the failure to protect children.
The same paperwork has also been referred to Greater Manchester police, the force that has launched a criminal investigation into an alleged cover-up of child abuse at a Knowl View and the decision not to prosecute Smith.
Dozens of former pupils from Knowl View, some as young as eight, have come forward to say they were abused at the school. Smith, who died in 2010, is alleged to have assaulted several children at the school.
Simon Danczuk, the Labour MP for Rochdale and co-author of a book about Cyril Smith and Knowl View, said that the disclosure appears to be the first confirmation that central government knew but failed to act upon allegations of abuse at the school.
He said: “It’s one of the country’s worst ever child sex scandals and the fact that documents outlining the abuse taking place were sent to a cabinet minister and not acted on is shocking.
“It’s hard to fathom just what government officials were thinking of by sending a dossier about council failings straight back to the council. It’s as though Knowl View was a hot potato that no one wanted to catch and address. They just kept throwing it to someone else in the hope it would go away,” he said.
Knowl View, a special school for boys, opened in 1969 for boys aged from eight to 16. For 24 of the 26 years it was open, Smith was a governor there.
The dossier sent to Shephard’s office gave details of allegations that boys at the school were being groomed by known paedophiles; referred to a report by a clinical psychologist claiming that residents, aged between eight and 16, had engaged in serious sexual incidents; and listed concerns from health professionals that residents were at risk of Aids.
In February 1992, a report by a consultant clinical psychologist, Valerie Mellor, concluded that one in four boys was engaged in serious sexual incidents.
A year earlier, the council had received a report from an Aids specialist saying that the sexualisation of boys put many at risk.
Some were cottaging, others were known to consort with a paedophile, while others, one as young as eight, was engaged in sex with fellow residents.
Martin Digan, the school’s former social worker who blew the whistle on abuse at Knowl View, compiled the dossier. He says he did not send it to Shephard’s office.
The school was closed in 1995 following a fire and shortly afterwards Digan was made redundant by the council.
The Woolf inquiry will consider whether, and to what extent, public bodies and other institutions fulfilled their duty of care to protect children from sexual abuse. It followed the outcry over the way that Smith and the late DJ Jimmy Savile had been able to abuse hundreds of people despite many allegations against them.
The Guardian first came across questions around the Department for Education’s involvement two weeks ago after seeing a letter from a QC who is leading an inquiry ordered by Rochdale council into allegations of a cover up around Knowl View.
The letter sent by Neil Garnham QC said that Shephard’s office had been sent “the Digan dossier”.
When approached for a comment, Shephard said she had contacted her former department and confirmed that it had received the dossier. “I have checked with the Department for Education. There was correspondence [about Knowl View] in 1995. They can find no evidence that I personally received it nor that I was personally involved in responding to it,” she said.
Asked if she sympathised with claims that earlier central government intervention may have helped victims who have since committed suicide or self harmed, she said: “Everybody has got sympathy with victims in Rochdale. But it really was the responsibility of the council.”
She declined to say if she was able to identify the officials who had sent the document back to the council.
Digan said on Monday that central government intervention in 1995 could have forced the council and the police into action, bringing treatment for victims and more prosecutions of rapists.
He said he is aware of at least one former pupil who went on to take his own life because of the abuse he suffered at Knowl View, while others went on to commit violent crime.
He said: “It is outrageous that the government did not intervene. Government, then and now, has a responsibility to stop institutions from becoming a sweet shop for paedophiles and uncover the truth.”
Shephard was education secretary between 1994-1997 and made a life peer in 2005.
Digan was acting head of care at the residential school for boys with learning difficulties and behavioural problems. He had often complained that Smith kept using his own set of keys to access the school.
Last year, the Crown Prosecution Service admitted Smith should have been prosecuted for abusing young boys in the 1960s.
A DfE spokesperson said: “We are of course aware of the issues in Rochdale. We are working closely with other government departments and any information that the department holds will be submitted to the ongoing Home Office investigation.
“The department has identified the relevant file and had already both alerted the Home Office institutional abuse enquiry to its existence and sent it to Greater Manchester police to help with their investigations,” she added.
The department would not say when in 1995 it received the dossier and whether officials launched any form of investigation into its allegations.

No stone unturned

Post by The....truth on 23.10.14 7:37

Following her interview before a Commons select committee yesterday, Woolf is starting to look like an ill-considered choice.

However, there cannot be anything to worry about, given that

Downing Street has backed Woolf, saying it was confident she would ensure there was “no stone left unturned” as head of the inquiry.

Don't see how they can keep her now.

I think that maybe part of the problem is that TPTB have been able to hoodwink the gen. public for so long that they cannot seem to accept that the internet is going to change how things work.   It will still take some time, but things are changing and as someone said on the forum not too long ago, the genie is now out of the bottle.

MPs like Vaz seem to have grasped it and he knows that interneters love someone who is seen to make the right noise so to speak.   Pretty soon many others will cotton on, but they do seem quite reluctant at the mo.

Plebgate, I agree.

But the genie is out only outside the MSM. Can you imagine the BBC for example actually investigating and publishing ?

But the more that MSM becomes redundant or just plain unacceptable then the more that people will turn to blogs and fora for information.

Here is one genie that is well and truly out of his bottle. He has had enough and clearly the ptb are desperate to shut him up.

Article from The Independent last week that seems to have passed us by:

New investigation after '2,000 police officers' are implicated in corruption

Exclusive: Independent investigation reveals thousands of officers are suspected to be crooked

TOM HARPER
Friday 17 October 2014

Police corruption is to be investigated by a powerful committee of MPs amid fears of widespread impropriety – as The Independent reveals that thousands of officers are suspected to be crooked.
The Home Affairs Select Committee will launch an inquiry next month into the police’s relationship with organised crime, focusing on the infiltration of forces by criminal networks. The inquiry, which will allow MPs to hear from witnesses under the protection of parliamentary privilege, follows a series of scandals including the inquiries relating to Stephen Lawrence, Daniel Morgan, phone-hacking and Plebgate.
It comes as The Independent can reveal for the first time the Government’s official estimate of how many members of police staff were suspected of being compromised by dealings with criminals.

I'm convinced "No stone left unturned" is masonic code for "Cover-up is now in full swing"

Keith Vaz has just revealed that a letter from Wolff about her connection to Leon Brittan was
