Sepp Blatter is mental.

There I said it.

Objecting to a crazy football tournament played in 110 degree temperatures in a country with no footballing history is now "racist".

Objecting to an obviously corrupt voting system is now "racist".

Corruption is everywhere.

I wish him the worst.

Isn't he the one who wanted women to play football in tighter shorts?

Every day I read something and think well I have heard it all now, but being called racist as outlined above is, imo, ridiculous.

Hasn't it been suggested that the World Cup that year ? 2022 be switched to October,  what will happen to Premier League?

Where has common sense gone these days???????

COME ON ENGERLAND, but I do feel there are one or two "oldies" who shouldn't be in the squad and I think they will be lucky to get through the second round.

English players currently account for less than a third of "playing time" in the Premier League (Spain 59%, Germany 50%)
Only 8 of the 18 Managers are English.
No English Manager has ever won the League title
How many Premier clubs are English owned ?

English Premier League football is a branch of show business, not Sport.

To put it another way.

England have absolutely no chance in this World Cup.

Be lucky if they can scrape it to the Quarters at best.

I'm looking forward to it. England v Italy on Saturday night at 11pm with a pizza and some lagers at home.  South American team will win it - Argentina is my bet.  Alas I drew Switzerland in the pub sweepstake .

If you need to suppress debate just accuse someone of being a racist. That usually does the trick. If you feel the argument slipping away just play the race card, all reasoned debate is now sullied and hard to continue.  That's the idea at least , shows the level of sophistication of Mr Blatter.
Funnily enough, I had been thinking along similar lines about the fact that the Pro McCanns call us haters. In the absence of being able to argue the facts they resort to insults especially the use of the word"haters" in order to stifle the debate. This is especially so on Twitter where the paid shills make it an unwelcome place, after all who wants to be a "hater"?

If we're talking about England, we will do what we always do. Struggle to get a draw in the first two matches, so that the third will be a nailbiter. They will just scrape through a win after 90 minutes plus 2 minutes injury time (probably a lucky free kick).

Second round we will beat someone like Turkey (but only just), and have our best player injured and unable to take part in any more matches. We will draw Argentina or Germany in the Quarter Finals. Despite puffing and huffing and turning bright red, Rooney will score the best goal ever, but get sent off minutes later for chinning the referee. We will be leading until the 187th minute of extra time, and Germany/Argentina will score a split second before the whistle. We will go out 4-5 on a spectacularly failed penalty .

Hello sammyc - you might make a few bob with Switzerland. They were the only team to beat the eventual winners at the last World Cup

ETA I speak from experience of course, having more or less won the 1962 World Cup on my own.....

The World Cup will very rarely throw up an easy game. The standard of all teams,by definition,is usually high as they have all come through the qualifying stages, other than the Hosts.

There are a few teams that have quality above the rest, that would be Argentina,Spain,Germany and maybe Brazil.
Others are good enough to put in a World class performance on their day, such as England,Italy,Uruguay,Portugal, maybe France and Belgium are fancied for some reason.

Currently Spain and Germany are joint favourites at 13/2 with England at a rather mean 28/1.

Remember that England won the World Cup in 1966 and were not particularly fancied to do well.

Also the last time Austria won the Eurovision song contest England won the World Cup.

England will do well providing Rooney is left on the subs bench and the defence have a bit of luck.We have players that can score goals against the best in the World.

Bit of luck England will win.

From an ex player and coach's point of view then i will be brutally honest.

England have absolutely NO CHANCE. Not good enough by a long shot. SIMPLE.

IF they reach the quarter finals then they have done extremely WELL.

COME ON ENGLAND ANYWAY!!!
