I keep coming back to this PeterMac, why did the McCanns completely ignore France in their search and on their website?

French press agency given photographs and interviews yet nothing in France, the schengen country adjacent to Portugal. On the findmadeleine website there is nothing in French. Trips to Morocco (a large French speaking population there) and yet nothing
translated into French.

In a worldwide search and awareness campaign there's nothing in French.

I just don't understand it.

Gerry in the back seat...

Post by missbeetle on 12.12.14 19:39

Is that John Hill, Ocean Club Manager, in the front passenger seat?

The front seat passenger bears more than a striking resemblance to the Manager of MW's Ocean Club http://www.gerrymccannsblogs.co.uk/MARK_WARNER.htm, missb, but just about all of the British males who feature in this long running saga could be doppelgangers for one or other them iyswim.

Is Luz awash with middle-aged balding and bespectacled males of similar complexion and (remaining) hair colour, or is it simply bad luck that we've been presented with images of so many unprepossessing specimens of the gender?  Are there no Johnny Depp lookalikes to drool over provide variety?

Praia da Luzers...

Post by missbeetle on 12.12.14 21:25

I'm a bit surprised that I haven't seen any tattoos on anyone...

...but maybe that is more of a New Zealand thing?

I'm bemused at your passion for Johnny Depp, ultimaThule -

- if he came near me I'd hit him with a hairbrush.

I've found a hip-haired and youthful-complexioned Luz male -

- a well wisher, even -

- getting his flesh pressed by a meaningful-looking Gerald McCann :

Is that cash in his left hand?

My thoughts only.

It doesn't look to be any cash I've seen, missb, but the largest euro note in my stash of foreign currency has a value of a mere 500e and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the greedy grieving pair have a mobile pin&chip machine to process debit/credit card donations.   Don't they realise that if they unlinked their sweaty mitts they could work both sides of a crowd in the manner of the Windsors?

Tattoos are not a 'New Zealand thing' - during the winter season on the Costas the Spanish and sensible tourists don warm clothing, while newly arrived Brit holidaymakers of both sexes are easily identifiable by their penchant for strolling around in skimpy summer vests and shorts with assorted body art on display; a lamentable trend as, imo, tattoos look infinitely more appropriate and attractive when inked on the arms and torsos of males of a Polynesian persuasion.

I'll pass on the callow youth who appears to be wearing a sarong - a would-be surfer dude?  As for Johnny Depp, what can I say?  I've always been a sucker for a good actor.  big grin

Very close to being a Masonic handshake. Look at the way the thumb curls over to press the middle knuckle of the boy's hand.
They get used to doing it.

Barman, cook, waiter...?

Post by missbeetle on 19.12.14 21:38

Has anyone seen a statement in the files from this chap? :

(as far as I can remember, this is undated - snipped from alamy.com)

The name 'Fernando Cabaco' only comes up with this image on Google.

His is the only posed photograph I've seen of any of the Ocean Club staff.

How uncanny that he should be wearing a Hopeful Yellow polo shirt...

...and be proudly displaying a faintly Polynesian tattoo.

My opinion only.

Hugh might be...?

Could the bespectacled and bejandaled fellow to the left -

- acting as Gerry's bag-wallah -

- be this "Call me Hugh" chap...?

He appears a lot in the background - and acted as Gerry's chauffeur, too :

Gerry's white T shirt with suit trousers and those spivvy-toed shoes -

- what a strange look...! There's something not quite right about that man.

My opinion only.

I think this fellow might be Craig Mayhew, Mark Warner's UK Director of Operations at the time.

He came out to the Algarve on the 4th of May, and I've seen him pictured with the McCanns on the 5th.

This is what he looks like nowadays :

My opinion only.
