She sounds like a (bad) actress from drama school. Not sure how genuine this is really?!?

Interesting that it's on the BBC radio though. Signs that the tables are definitely turning!

Have it, nice one the BBC. I'm certain there will be a vast under swell of public opinion that given a voice will surface like an infant sunami and hit the pricks at the media monitoring units where it hurts them most. Isn't there an election coming soon? Well posted PM.

Wow tbh it doesn't matter if it is an actress although I don't think it is this is unprecedented criticism for mainstream reporting
They will go nuts when they hear this

Apart from the obvious, the most interesting part of this is yet again [as with the recent Irish phone in] a radio host who has no real knowledge of what he is talking about and who, by loose phraseology, creates a completely different impression of what is going on. In a single sentence  he both claims that digging has already "started" and that it was "instigated by the McCanns". There is no evidence for either of these although some conspiracy theorists would no doubt like to persuade us that these statements are true.  Nor do I believe that this means he has some special knowledge or that he is deliberately planting these ideas as part of some global plan. Just yet another example of totally crap media coverage. As we look back over seven years its difficult to find anyone in the media who can string two sentences together without misinforming/ misleading the reader/ listener one way or another. I liked the woman though.

  • The big phone in... Is it ever acceptable to leave your children on their own?
Kate McCann says she was stuck in an "endless bad dream" and haunted by visions of her missing daughter Madeleine after her disappearance. In her new book Kate says she feared her daughter had fallen victim to a paedophile.

Three year old Madeline vanished on a family holiday to Portugal back in 2007 and hasn't been found.

The McCanns had left their small children sleeping in an unlocked ground-floor apartment while they dined with friends at a tapas bar about 120 metres away.

The law says that there is no legal age limit for leaving a child on their own.

JVS hears from you... Is it ever acceptable to leave your children on their own?

Would be good to hear opinions on this as well

Sorry, this episode is not currently available on BBC iPlayer Radio, huh

She did indeed sound like a very very bad actress. I'm afraid that was all I could take from the whole thing.

You can listen to the program on the iPlayer. I'm listening to it now. Great bit of regional radio. If you haven't heard it, it's an absolute must. Here's the link (hope it works)...

Gamble's on the show and I've got to say he isn't very credible, but he does make reference to a horrible death, hmmmm!

So we've got Three Counties Radio, Wales Online, some Scottish newspaper.... why is everything seeping out, like bodily fluids from a discarded fridge, via regional and otherwise small fry media? Is it a plan?

Incidentally, JVS has the kind of face that one would never tire of punching.

You forgot the Irish radio phone-in of a couple of weeks back, Clay.
And yes, those seeping fluids only go to show you can't embalm the truth!

BBC just now

Post by Guest on 22.05.14 11:02

Just had BBC rolling news on in the background when I noticed a pic of Madeleine on screen (approx 10.45am) with the banner 'Madeleine Inquiry', the voiceover stated something about an imminent 'significant increase in operational activity'. I can't remember the direct quote, because it caught me by surprise, but the words increase in operational activity were definitely used.

ETA, just noticed a thread has been started with regards this news. Apologies

"Sara " from Hertfordshire not pulling any punches....sick of the McCanns, wants them to stop, give it a rest, if she saw Kate walking the streets she would say something to her, probably what she is saying on radio, which is strong stuff.

Disgusted at the children being left alone, asked did they do this at home and if not, why in a strange place abroad?
If a foreign force wanted to come to the UK to dig when a foreign child had disappeared  they would not be allowed.
It is Portugal's case. She praised the country and its people and stressed its love of children and the country's reliance on tourism.
Why not dig out of season? She is in her own words incensed at the damage the McCanns have done to the owners of businesses in fact incensed about eh case for some time. Why is everything done by the pair in the full glare of the media , is nothing private?

Viewers should be calling in with their opinions on her interview.

Can't listen to any more of Gamble. JVS telling him many have rung in disgusted with Sara's comments but many calling in saying that she has voiced what they feel.

Gable called Sara condescending , aloof and small-minded. He interestingly described Maddie as " was  [ as if to say abducted] then said " went missing" later on said it was a suspected abduction. He mentioned twitter and said those pouring bile on McCanns would be prosecuted for harassment if identified.

People who came across Sara in the streets at home or in PdL would have things to say to HER.

He was critical of the initial PJ investigation.

Same old same old from JG.

eta... the problem with phone- ins shown in this programme. Repeats of parts of Gamble's and Sara's views, many invitations repeated to call in, then very few people who called in can be heard...
a balance of for and against so fafr, and one bar owner in PdL described the town having to tolerate a media circus every anniversary.

Gamble appalled at Sara and appalled that her comments were broadcast........oh dear!

eta... listened again.  Sara sounds like an actress[ not a good one] rather than a member of the public. Something about this whole item has a feel of being not genuine in some way.

I think she has been a trained actress from the voice inflections and tones, and equally she may have been chosen for that broadcast because she can put across her incredulity and anger so powerfully.

Even if you have had certain training, it doesn't exclude you from being sick of this whole thing.

(hello btw, have been reading all the work here for weeks and it is staggering. Bet no one thought people would give it all so much forensic thought for all this time!)

Sarah is totally right , these two are being hailed as victims when the law of common sense will tell you that had the pair of them not neglected their kids and gone to the bar with their tapas friends their child would be with them today . Why are they not charged with neglect? Are these two above the law? Its about time they are brought to court to answer why they left under 4 year old children on their own . There is enough to throw the book at them in court . So in the interest of rebuilding an honest decent society once again its about time these two are made to explain in an open court as to why they left under 4 year old children on their own  period .

Reading the previous posts Gamble seems to be ruling by bullying, I wonder what it is he is trying to hide (no guesses there!)

To answer Iamtheseeker, if the PJ charge the McCanns with child neglect they may not be able to bring another more serious charge later if it was found that the McCanns were responsible for Madeleine's "disappearance", so they must be hanging on to the hope that they can find some evidence that is incriminating in a more serious charge, IMO.

ETA: It is likely that GA and the PJ didn't bring any charges against the McCanns from the outset because they knew it was more than a case of "child neglect" but they didn't have the evidence as has been mentioned in many posts on this forum.

Is that true? I know it once was asked if that was a possibility, but did we ever get confirmed that indeed no other charges can be brought, even if that charge is more serious?
