And, surely, if SY know that Maddie is really dead (surely they can't believe that two highly trained police dogs can both be wrong in the same places?) then there's the added problem that if they allow this crime to go unpunished then the police will also be letting them continue to take money under false pretences.

Cherry, my theory, this could not be a whitewash. Who are the McCanns? Not the Emperor, are they?
They are victims of a Rebekah's trap, who wanted to sell papers and to get back the money they payed the fund

Each to his/her own opinion marconi

IMO this goes beyond Madeliene going missing and what happened to her. who but the McCanns could have got the help of powerful, wealthy and influential indeviduals, some of whom extend to the very fabric of our Society, including the British Government itself.

You say they are victims of a Rebekah's trap, imo it goes a lot deeper than wanting to sell newspapers! Why do you think the McCanns are victims?

Which Emperor?

Today's news in DN Portuguese newspaper is that PJ are investigating or have investigated a van driver for the OC.

will get the brief outline as a log- in needed for the whole piece.

PJ demand driver where Maddie disappeared hotel
by José Manuel OliveiraHoje7 comments

The Judiciary Police (PJ) was looking in Praia da Luz, near Lagos, at a former van driver at the The Ocean Club resort.

It was here that Madeleine McCann, then aged 3, disappeared,  from the bedroom she shared with her siblings, on the night of May 3, 2007, while the parents dined with friends at a restaurant about 50 meters away.

Thank for the link NickE.

It was reported last week that the 3 employees phones were red hot on the night of the 3rd - Imo the info. from "a source" might have been slightly exagerrated if this is the van driver now being looked at.

Unless its this bit :-

"The witness states that, in informal conversation with the inspectors of this police force (DIC Portimao), he reported a situation, which at the time seemed abnormal, but that these facts have already been investigated, and it was determined that they had no relevance to the current investigation."

It was only a matter of time before a van appeared on the scene again. With the old timeline now trashed, the window of opportunity is almost zero. This means that for the abductor theory to keep going, the abductor has to be in and out in a few minutes, bundling (the surprisingly quiet) Maddie into a van before heading off into the night. Unfortunately there was no van. No reports of a van. No CCTV of a van. But nevertheless a van is needed. And here it comes!  hello  Driven it would seem by an OC employee... Hmmmm. Let's hope the press don't spin to any conclusions... Oh oh... Too late!

Poor old Bernadino Van Man and he wasn't even driving a van!
One phone call, confirmed as to his wife’s number at 9pm on the 3rd, to say he was still at work and would be a bit later home than his 8.30 finish time, as he was still dropping people from the OC off.
Now that’s going to take a few months investigation, another letter, a couple of day trips maybe, regular Pink Press headlines, before we come back again to the next victim, Stephen Carpenter’s ‘laundry man & van’, regularly parked up the road near Murat’s house.

That bit does kind of leap off the page Woofer. So, he's leaving the OC just after 9pm, and he sees something that he regards as so abnormal that he reports it to the investigation. This guy could be an A grade witness.

Clay,

Or not!

There is a link at the bottom of the Bernadino statement page clarifying his informal statement as follows:

‘He clarified that on the night of the events under investigation, between 20h15 and 20h30, in the area of the video club in Lago do Chafariz, he passed a man, white, tall, with a beard, about 30 years old, well-built and with an aspect [air; manner] that made the witness presume he could have been involved with the events, as he had never [before] seen that person in the town of Luz.
--- He offered no further details, namely the whereabouts of the referred individual.
--- After carrying out various work, I located the man who lives in Rua Direita, Praia da Luz (in front of the Post Office).
--- Invited to identify himself, the man identified himself with his passport as being Henry A., born 1967 in Germany. He produced another document and a five year rental contract for his residence.
--- Informally, he stated that when the events were occurring he was at home, alone. He had not gone out that night. He had found out about the events the next day.
--- He had no information to give with respect to the events.
--- He came to live in Portugal 3 years ago. He works in Serra Verde, in civil construction, as a painter.
--- Later he invited the undersigned to visit his house. Walking through his house revealed nothing of interest for the case.
--- Finally, a computer search was made for information on the man, without result.’

We could have had ‘Henry, the German Painter Man’ as tomorrows headline (weren't Bony M from Germany?), but unfortunately he got his timings wrong, turned up far too early, so had to go to the Video Shop to while away an hour or so until he could become a proper suspect.

I don't believe in the existence of the van neither that Diário de Notícias knows anything about the investigation.  The PJ never tell anything unless they want to achieve something, through the media.
A driver of the Ocean Club, probably a Portuguese, and the McCanns sharing their crime with him?
If it is true, we, posters on this forum, are the only ones who still don't know what happened that night.
The rest of the world knows it.
My theory is that at least one nanny could be involved in the concealing of the body, a British woman, who also speaks English, had a boy friend with a car, or had a car herself, the corpse was brought to Lagos or even Albufeira, who knows. Gerry met him/her near the church.
That is why the dogs did not alert at any other place in Praia da Luz.

Thanks Doug, somehow managed to completely miss that. He was still around the OC at an "interesting" time of night though.

I hope this suspect busdriver story is a smokescreen and this guy is a independent witness.
Perhaps he have info about suspect luggage he brought to Faro airport from OC.

Britain's most senior police officer confirms the Met has the names of three suspects in Madeleine McCann case and is 'closing in'
Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said there has been 'progress' in McCann case
Told BBC's Radio 5 Live they have different questions to Portuguese police
Said that his officers had names of suspects involved in case
Declined to say when the suspects would be quizzed about Madeline

Progress: Scotland Yard boss Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe has admitted that there has been movements in the McCann case, suggesting that officers are closing in on the person that abducted her
Britain's most senior police officer has suggested his officers are closing in on the people who abducted Madeleine McCann.
Scotland Yard boss Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe admitted his officers have the names of suspects and that ‘some progress’ is being made in the inquiry.
But he declined to be drawn on when the suspects would be quizzed over her disappearance in Portugal seven years ago.
He told BBC’s Radio 5 Live: ‘We have sent three letters of request for international assistance to the Portuguese judiciary, because that is the way their system works.
‘We have got lines of inquiry which are different to the Portuguese Police’s and we are working with them to try to resolve that.
'We are making some progress.’
Asked by presenter Nicky Campbell whether his officers had the names of suspects, he replied: ‘That is correct’.
He declined to comment further.
Sir Bernard’s comments came after the Mail revealed exclusively last month that the Met has identified three burglars as prime suspects for Madeleine’s disappearance.
Analysis of mobile phone data suggests the men were close to the scene of her abduction, at the time she went missing, and that they were in close contact with each other in the hours that followed.
Following our revelations, Portuguese newspapers reported that three former Ocean Club workers are Scotland Yard’s prime suspects over her disappearance.
Details of the men’s alleged links to the Mark Warner-run resort in the Algarve, where Maddie vanished from in 2007, were revealed in a number of Portuguese newspapers with close links to local police.

They were disclosed two days after Portuguese police had a high-level meeting with a visiting Scotland Yard delegation late last month.
At the meeting, Met detectives are reported to have requested bank details of the men, who are thought to have carried out a series of break-ins at the Ocean Club in the run up to Maddie’s disappearance.
Although local media reported the men had been employed at the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz, it was not clear whether they were working there at the time Madeleine went missing in May 2007.
Nor was it clear whether they were directly employed by Mark Warner, or through a contractor.

Madeleine McCann went missing in 2007, and local media have reported that certain people of interest in the case had links to where she vanished from

Madeleine, who was then nearly four, disappeared from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3 2007 as her parents dined at a nearby restaurant with friends.
It is now known that between January and May 2007 there had been a four-fold increase in the number of burglaries in the area.
