13.01.10 News: Red Carnations for Gerry McCann
Gerry McCann is seen leaving the court in Lisbon where his legal team are arguing for the complete gagging and pulping of Goncarlo Amarals books in which he alleges Madeleine McCann was killed in the apartment in Praia da Luz on the evening of May 3rd 2007. The McCanns are asking the court to finalise an order given in 2008 in which the McCanns solicitor was granted a temporary banning of Amarals book and sequestration of profits. The McCanns demands now include a request that the court also grant an award of punitive damages in the order of £1 million.
On leaving the court Gerry McCann was seen to hold in his right hand a bunch of red carnations. The red carnation to the people of Portugal is a poignant symbol. It symbolises the arrival of free speech and democratic reform. This came to the country through a peoples uprising that occurred on April the 25th 1974.
The country was previously a dictatorship and one in which it's people lived in constant fear for their lives. Political dissent had beome impossible as the state had assumed complete control of all media resources. The revolution when it came was to be known as the 'Red Carnation Revolution' as carnations were used to symbolise the overthrow of the one party state and the arrival of democracy.
Those in court heard a series of statements from the first couple of witnesses that Amaral had selected to appear for his defence. Various well known and established evidence was mentioned as to why the police believed the McCanns had killed their daughter along with this evidence it was revealed the Portuguese police had come to the conclusion Madeleine was dead in the apartment as blood and cadaver scent had been detected in the McCanns apartment 5A. The PJs impression that Madeleine was dead was primarily based upon this evidence. This idea was further supported by additional evidence which was also itemised to the court today. This evidence was the fact that English cadaver dogs had also found a death scent on a piece of cloth in the McCanns second Mark Warner apartment. This apartment was the one the McCannns 'rented'*(Note) after having left 5A.
The second apartment of the McCanns was within the confines of the Mark Warner complex. The apartment was located in the neighbouring block to 5A. The McCanns stayed in this apartment from the 4th of May 2007 until the 1st of July when they moved out to stay as guests of the Portuguese goverment at a villa owned and operated by Antonio Pina the chairman of the RTE, the president of the Algarve Tourist Authority, ERTA and the past chairman of the Algarve Rotary Club (2006/7).
The Mcccanns were to stay at their first villa for one month, until the end of July, when they were forced to move yet again. Their second move at the end of July was to the 'Vista Mar' (Sea View), the McCanns final destination before their return to the UK in early September 2007.
Paul Luckman the editor of Portugal News detailed in a phoned in report to RTE, an Irish news station, that the McCanns first villa was being paid for by the Portuguese goverment and put at the McCanns disposal through the auspices of The Algarve Tourist Authority.
The English sniffer dogs were active in the region under the guidance of Mark Harrison and his team in mid-July. It was whilst these dogs were active in the area the McCanns were forced to move from their first rent free villa to their next villa, one in which they were required to pay rent from their own pocket.
Before the end of July Mr. Antonio Pina insisted to the McCanns they move out of their villa by the end of the month. In the press nothing of this exchange was reported. All that was apparent was the fact that the McCanns were suddenly on the move again and this second move was unexpected and unwelcome to the McCanns. It was known in the press that this move was the cause of real inconvenience to the McCanns and their party. The McCanns had not expected to be moved out and it was on this chaotic move that Clarence Mitchell later said, "seats were ripped out of the back of the McCanns rental car'. This drastic action on the part of the McCanns and their friends implies that real panic had set in. Such was their anxiety to move. The enforced move plainly came as a shock to the McCanns as they were given little or no notice to find alternative accommodation.
Gerry McCann complained on his bloggs that despite being given little notice to quit their rent free villa he considered himself as fortunate to have secured the lease on their next villa quickly. By August Gerry McCann remarked it had become almost too late in the season to be making rental arrangements in a small town such as Luz which contained a limited supply of suitable family accommodation.
It now appears that there was a reason for the McCanns hurried eviction from Antonio Pinas grace and favour villa. The cloth with the cadaver scent could only have been located in the second apartment when the English cadaver dogs arrived in late July. By the end of July the evidence had been uncovered and was plainly known to the PJ and the McCanns, and it seems this piece of forensic intelligence was also made known to Antonio Pina. Pina all but evicted the McCanns from the tourist board villa as the Portuguese goverment appears to have refused, in the light of the uncovered evidence, to continue to subsidise the McCanns past the end of the month. From the 1st of August the McCanns were to be on their own.
The cadaver dog evidence we know was found on the cloth discovered at the McCanns 2nd Mark Warner apartment, an apartment that the McCanns moved out from 57 days after Madeleines disappearence. This fact suggests only one possibility and that is the probability this cloth came into contact with Madeleines body and that the contact with Madeleines body had been made within the first 57 days of Madeleines reported disappearence or as the Portuguese police explained to the court, Madeleines suspected death.
Gerry McCann holds a bunch of red carnations in his hand all he now needs is a grave to place them upon.
*Note
'Rented' is the literal translation. It is well known the McCanns did not pay for the Mark Warner accommodation. One of the staff members detailed to Correio da Manhã, a Portuguese national paper the fact that the McCanns had not been charged for any meals, services or accommodation for the remainder of their stay at the Ocean Club. Mark Warner made the second apartment available to the McCanns free of charge. It is therefore likely the intended word was 'rental'.

But....the McCanns paid for that villa. It wasn't 'grace and favour' at all. The rental agreement is in the files, fgs!!! And before that they were in an apartment, weren't they?
But then, this is TW4, who I think has gone ever so slightly barmy. All that stuff about men with bags and stripy shirts being seen wherever the Mccanns go - hilarious, but no-one is supposed to take it seriously.
Are they?

Snr. Amaral isn't committing fraud nor is he raising money on the back of his missing daughter, unlike some.

They thought they'd get Amaral due to his lack of money to fight them and their rich powerful backers giving them unlimited financial clout. Well, thanks to Amaral's many supporters who loathe such injustice and imbalance, he has raised money to fight his cause. Good luck to him, he has guts.

They took him to court, their greed is insatiable. He has a right to fight back and if he needs to raise money to do so rather than being destroyed, good for him.
They had no such excuse to market their daughter as a commodity, to use her shamelessly to raise money as they did, it's an obscenity. They still continue to do so, suing here, there, everywhere, 'give me money, money, money' is the mantra. Other parents in this position haven't acted this way.

Oh de be quiet laffin. You have become quite obsessed with a couple of people and think that every other poster is them.
If I were you I would be more concerned about who is posting using your user name.

Nope still on it, just that why is it some attack the McCanns for seeking donations and Amaral gets praise. Both are using public donations, none are commiting fraud as both are explaining what it is for.

Re: Red carnations for Gerry McCann
From page one here because I must say TM have downplayed the move from one villa to the next.
I did know that they said the villa was lent to them free of charge but also knew they'd paid rent. If they had the first villa free and the second was paid for (I remember quite a hefty number for the rent) two villas would explain that problem. So it must have been as from the first days of July that they had a neighbour who noticed the airing of the Espace? If - the contamination in the boot of the car happened around June the 10th, the car must have been parked at OC and whether serious airing took place there or not, it would stand out in the car park to leave the back open.
Marvellous, so they had their meals, their friends and their accommodation free at OC. Contamination happened because of the dirty pyjamas and sandals Maddie had worn were thrown in the boot during the move to the villa. Villa nr. 1 .
Which does place their timeline for the disposal of the body before the date they moved from OC. Hmm, hadn't thought of that before.
