There were rumours, way back in 2007 that the Americans had a "grainy photograph" of people hanging around the apartment, and they were trying to enhance it. If my memory serves me correctly, I recall that it was said there were 3 people; 2 men and one woman. Then it all went quiet and nothing more was said about it.
I wonder if this is connected to the above, or is the Express just spewing tosh, because things have gone so quiet on the McCann front?

Perish the thought that I'm being paranoid but I feel sure that if any identifiable photos existed - and they were not of greasy, spotty foreigners but of some well-known individuals - they would have gone to the great paper shredder in the sky even more quickly than a polite question is removed from the McCann Facebook page.

I had mentioned on another thread about the huge Mandela media coverage and how( imo )a McCann story always comes out to overshadow any major event coverage or will catch the tail ends of its publicity..and well, well, well...here we are.
So predictable

In fact, its odd: during those highdays papers sell enough copies under their own steam; so why top 'em up with McInanities?

Very odd indeed.
I can only think during a period of high volume sales in the media, a 'source' may see it as a good opportunity to reach more of the un informed public and fill their heads with more confusing drivel.

Re: Spy Plane Clue to Maddie Mystery - Express 15/12/13
It would be rather interesting if the spy plane captured all sorts of images of certain people who believed they weren't being noticed or photographed at particular times. Or perhaps captured images which proved certain people were NOT where they said they were at particular times...?
Edited to add: If I were one of those people and suddenly realized the possible implications of this story - whether it's true or not - I would actually be quite worried.
Edited to add again: It's almost like a spy-tech version of the Google streetview camera catching someone being naughty. Hmm.

It's a bit of both I reckon. But hey, folks of a certain age are allowed a bit of cynicism I say. Now I'm off to bed before NFWTD chucks a spear me.
WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN I SHALL WEAR PURPLE
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Satellite images have come up before.
The former inspector finds it strange that it's necessary for an ambassador to speak about the evidence for "some veracity to be given as to the responsibility of the parents in Madeleine's disappearance"

Gonçalo Amaral, the former Judiciary Police inspector, stated this Monday that "it is strange" that it is necessary for an ambassador to speak about the evidence "for some veracity to be given as to the responsibility of the parents in Madeleine's disappearance" and that he looks forward for Wikileaks divulging the satellite imagery, reports Lusa.
"I accompanied the investigation, I know what is there and I know what still needs to be done, and I also know there's responsibility in the disappearance, I have no doubts about that," said Gonçalo Amaral, the former coordinator of the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, in Praia da Luz, Algarve, on May 2007.
The author of the book 'Maddie - The Truth of the Lie' spoke to the news agency Lusa, after the WikiLeaks site revealed a confidential cable from the British ambassador in Lisbon, from 2007, admitting to his U.S. counterpart in the Portuguese capital, that it was the British police that had found evidence against Madeleine's parents.
However, Gonçalo Amaral insists that "it was not the British police who had arrived at those conclusions". "I do not know what evidence the British ambassador was referring to when he spoke with the U.S. ambassador. Now that there are strong indications as to the responsibility of parents, there are, and they were gathered by Portuguese police in cooperation with the British police," he assured.
Gonçalo Amaral also expects for Wikileaks to be able to get "the long awaited for satellite images".
Meanwhile, the McCanns' spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, played down these revelations, considering that the cable in question - which was also published in the British newspaper 'The Guardian' - was only an "entirely historic note".

I can remember about two years ago someone posting on here about a photograph or satellite photograph of two people carrying something on the beach towards the rocks at PDL, they posted the photograph, it was interesting as it was taken at the time of the shenanigans and the two people were dead ringers for Kate and Gerry.

EXCLUSIVE: Nato spy plane 'may have photographed Madeleine McCann abduction'
A SPY plane on a Nato exercise may have captured an aerial image of the person who abducted Madeleine McCann, it was claimed last night.
A Portuguese military aircraft took photos of the Algarve coastline on the day the three-year-old disappeared, says British military expert Philip Burden.
He claims the images were clear enough to identify buildings and people’s faces and were offered to Portuguese police when Nato officials later learned of Madeleine’s disappearance. Mr Burden said: “The aircraft may provide a new lead in the hunt for Madeleine. During the early and late evening of May 3, 2007, the day Madeleine disappeared from the holiday resort of Praia da Luz, the plane took aerial photos of that stretch of the Algarve.
"It was on a Nato training exercise and had been used on similar missions over other European countries at other times."
Writer Mr Burden added: "According to my source, strips of film were later passed to the Portuguese police following their appeal for information about Madeleine's disappearance.
"I'm told that there were a number of low-level passes over the resort as part of a lengthy photo reconnaissance training mission. Although the light was fading, people and buildings could be clearly seen."
Portuguese police thanked the Portuguese Air Force for sending the film at the time but the pictures were not evident when secret police files were published later.
Asked to confirm or deny the claims, a Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We are not giving a running commentary."
Experts believe the aircraft may have taken photos of the hotel on the night Madeleine was abducted [GETTY]
If good images exist, they could prove vital in establishing what was going on at crucial times around the Ocean Club holiday complex. Spy cameras are so sophisticated they can pick out the registration number of vehicles and, in ideal conditions, tell the colour of a person's eyes.
The claims come at an emotional time for Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, as they prepare to celebrate Christmas with eight-year-old twins Sean and Amelie, with their missing daughter very much at the centre of their thoughts.
On Monday Kate was close to tears at a service at St Martin-in-the-Fields church in London arranged by the charity Missing People, for whom she is an ambassador.
Kate read the words of the Billie Holliday classic I'll Be Seeing You, which moved many in the packed congregation. The lyrics, particularly poignant at this time of year, include the lines: "I'll be seeing you, in all the old familiar places."
Kate's reading gave strength and encouragement to other parents facing the same heart-wrenching void in their lives.
Charity patron Sir Trevor McDonald, the former ITV newsreader, welcomed guests to the service marking the 20th anniversary of the charity.

Re: Spy Plane Clue to Maddie Mystery - Express 15/12/13
The McCann affair is, for the press at least, the gift that keeps on giving. From the start it was no longer about a little girl of four (although three sounds more exciting? ) but about the down-trodden life-saving parents in a foreign land (which - against all psychological indicatorsthey were curiously reluctant to leave).
Apart from that :
It has everything, legal paedo interest in what 'happened' to the child which was imagined and written about even by her mother. It allows the press to revive past cases with detailed abuse, porn for the masses.
It has the fairy tale interest, the Harry Potter link and belief in magic.
It has the belief in science such as Birch, the spy plane, GPS, CSI, making it just another TV series .
It ceased to be about Maddie long ago, printing her picture now sets up a Pavlovian reaction in the reading public. Which is why the same one is used every time.
MoonGoddess, you said some time ago that it seemed to be a huge psychological experiment. You may be right, it's certainly become one with the help of SY imo.
By the way, the PJ requested such images many years ago. Please don't tell me that it took SY two years and seven months to think of it.

A spy plane that made low level passes over the resort but didn't produce a single decent image. Did the McCanns put a hex on that plane?

Is the Express now using spy plane in their storiy instead of satellite:?
SATELLITE CLUE TO MADDIE KIDNAP
HOME Secretary Alan Johnson is prepared to ask US spy chiefs for satellite images which may show the face of Madeleine McCann’s kidnapper, following intervention by the Sunday Express.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/134657/SATELLITE-CLUE-TO-MADDIE-KIDNAP
It does seem familier even down to -
snipped
The quality of pictures taken by satellites in space is now so good they can reputedly identify the colour of someone’s eyes.
