How worried will Gerry be now? Empty How worried will Gerry be now?

Post by Cerinthe 15.10.13 23:49

I'm new to this forum.  Since 2007 I've kept trying to ignore the McCanns but they insist on regularly inserting themselves into the public consciousness and reminding us of what they apparently got away with.  I have a lot of gratitude for forums like this one and the posters on it, who have continued the hard slog of countering the McCanns' spinning and lying and have kept their eyes on the facts and achieving justice for Madeleine.  It also means that every time frustration with the McCanns and their dodginess gets too much, I can join in with the discussion.

So with that, what I'm wondering at the moment is how must Gerry be feeling now about half of Europe has been asked to think about the Smith sighting, the sighting that identified him carrying a little girl through the streets of Praia de Luz when his daughter was supposedly being abducted by paedophiles/burglars/charity workers.  Now that Bundleman has been removed from the picture by Scotland Yard, I'm thinking Mr McCann might be feeling more than a little uncomfortable.  Scotland Yard can't be unaware that it was Gerry who was ID'd by the witness when they made this latest appeal for info.

I really hope the heat is finally on.

welcome Cerinthe, I'm glad you've joined this forum.

From last night's Crimewatch I formed the impression that K&G would be accompanying DCI Redwood to The Netherlands and Germany to further their appeal for information on the disappearance of their eldest daughter.

I hope they're waiting for the knock on the door well and expect they've most probably spent the evening trying to in contact with their good friends the Paynes and Jane Tanner, plus other members of their Portuguese holiday party.

I read this earlier..... scroll down to The way the con continued ... http://aninspectorcallsyou.blogspot.co.uk/ ...it indicates that under that arrogant, smug exterior, there can be a frightened little boy.... I don't think Gerry McCann can be absolutely sure that there wont be an early morning knock on the door.... wouldn't mind betting he's taking something to help him sleep..... just hope he's being more careful with the dosage....

Welcome by the way..... I find it's good to have a place to vent :)

Gerry looks terrible IMO. The invincible McCann myth was smashed in Portugal at the Courthouse during the last few weeks. All I saw was two people, very much on their own with everything going against them.

Hi Cerinthe,

I've just joined too after reading this forum for a couple of years. Well done to all posters old and

Cerinthe, your post is spot on and I couldn't agree more. I hope I can contribute to the debate.

Welcome Cerinthe, great post!

You may well be right, I can almost picture him squirming.  I said on another thread (and it went down well :)) that the McCanns have avoided the Smith sighting like the plague.  Martin Smith described the man as late 30's and athletic (Gerry was 39), so not only does the e-fit look like him, he is the right age, build etc.

If Redwood really is onto them then I would expect they are all being bugged or at least their phone calls recorded. At least I hope they are.

Agree. Stirling work on the forums. I believe the CW programme left the good doctors looking rather exposed. Many many
More comments questioning the decision to leave the three children alone to go out and eat. Personally I don't think the
Efit looks anything like Gerry.

I thought it was more the way of walking and carrying the child that caused Martin Smith to think it was Gerry, at a later point, not his face.

Surely an  e-fit taken after Mr Smith had seen Gerry on the news could not be used as evidence in any case?

Thanks for the welcome everyone. smilie

UltimaThule, yes hopefully it won't just be Gerry feeling hot under the collar.  Maybe his Tapas dining companions are sharing some of the discomfort too.   I'd originally dismissed the jaunt to Holland and Germany as just another pointless McCann world tour, but actually it does make sense to make appeals  to any tourists who might have seen something and need their memories jogged by seeing Gerry right there on their tellys.  After all the Smith sighting came from Ireland.

Moongoddess, thank you for the link.  That blog has some very interesting perspectives. (I reckon I"m going to be doing quite a lot of venting here.  I was shouting at the TV when Crimewatch was on the other night)

Littlepixie, I've stopped being able to read the McCanns clearly because their behaviour has been so odd, my mind sort of blanks out, but I think you're right.  There's definitely something weighing heavily on them at the moment, and maybe it isn't just guilt and loss.

Unchainedmelody, good to see another newbie.  It must be a good sign that a wider interest has started up again and new people are joining forums like this.  Thank goodness for the stalwarts who have kept the analysis and monitoring going, even when it looked like nothing would change in the case.

Cristobel, the McCanns have definitely ignored the Smith sighting haven't they?  I bet they wish it didn't exist.   There can't be any non-suspicious reason for that.   I love your blog BTW.

What's puzzling me too is why the McCanns were so keen to get Scotland Yard in on the act.  Are they really so protected they know that they can get the result they want, or is it that they are just so arrogant they think they can pull the wool over the eyes of the police forever?  The truth is hard to control though, it can appear in all the wrong places - like in a bark from a dog, or from an Irish family who weren't afraid to tell the police exactly what they saw.

Hi,  I wrote a comment on the Daily Mail site yesterday, (that did not get printed), saying that 'the irishman' had said the man in question was Gerry McCann, identifying him with his build and gait of walking.  Today according to DM, 'the Irishman' wasn't wearing his glasses and at first thought it might be Gerry McCann!?!'  Check it out online, it's in the paper today, 16/10/2013.

But the whole family had made statements in May which would have included a description which was already like Gerry.

I find the way the McCanns carry their children very strange. There is one photo  of each carrying a child and it doesn't look at all safe to me. So iirc Sean wasn't really held tightly but more draped over Gerry's shoulder.
Also, once again completely out of it, sleeping heavily.

I think you have answered my question.  Smith said Kennedy had asked him to do an e-fit and he refused - statement given to Irish Police.

I wondered if Smith had some time after been approached by Kennedy again and persuaded second time round.  Perhaps not.  Perhaps the PI's did the e-fit based on the statements and no verbal input from Smith ?

Why are SY using someone else's e-fits anyway ?  Smith could be seeing these now for the first time and perhaps not in agreement with them at all.  Strange

Folks I am worried thinking about all the about the potential repercussions of what seems to be the endgame. Please keep in mind, with all this heat on, when people feel cornered they can do desperate things, and I really hope precautionary measures are in place.

And, with this in mind, perhaps people here might consider turning away from gleeful-sounding “heat is on” comments towards something more like “in many ways you have shown extraordinary strength so please try now to find the strength within you to resolve all of this for your children’s sake”

I'm afraid that I can't equate the expression "showing extraordinary strength" in any complimentary way to the McCanns.

If in the very unlikely event that those responsible (whoever they may be) are brought to justice, I hope that people will not be gleeful.

I just want to see an end to the present corrupt situation where some people can get away with anything because of their dodgy connections.

It would have been welcome if the McCann's had shown the same concerns for T Bennett, Robert Murat and Dr Amaral, and all those they either sued or put in the frame.
