[pquote]Caroline Lucas named MP of the year
6 November 2014
More than 90 MPs from across the country nominated
Awarded in recognition of her work with minority and deprived communities
Brighton Pavilion MP “committed to continuing to do all I can to prevent people from being excluded from the political process”

Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton Pavilion, has been named UK MP of the year.
The prestigious award was announced at a ceremony in the Speaker’s House and presented by House of Commons Speaker, Rt Hon John Bercow MP.
More than 90 MPs from across the country were nominated for the award, and the winners were selected by an independent panel of judges.
Caroline took MP of the Year 2014. She said: “I'm honoured to have been nominated for this Patchwork Foundation award, and delighted to have won. Sadly there is still a long way to go in terms of addressing the huge underrepresentation of minority and deprived communities, both in society and in parliament itself. As MP for Brighton Pavilion, I am committed to continuing to do all I can to support and engage with those communities and to prevent people from being excluded from the political process.”

The award is backed by leading cross party figures, including Prime Minister David Cameron, Ed Miliband, Boris Johnson Nick Clegg, Shadow justice secretary Sadiq Khan and Speaker John Bercow.
It is presented inassociation with Mosaic Associates, Three Faiths Forum, UpRising and The National Union of Students.
The Patchwork Foundation award was presented to Caroline in recognition of her work for minority and deprived communities and those often excluded from the political process.

 Clarence Mitchell  @mitch_1uk    ·     Nov 8
Fighting 4 @ourhippodrome @savehippodrome at today's rally. Grt suppt 4 iconic venue to stay live space. BHCC tk note

For a PR guru he really ought to vet his own choice of photos on Twitter. He always appears to have something growing out of his head (I'm turning into Missbeetle  titter).

This one is his commitment to saving the Brighton Hippodrome. Save our Hippo calls Clazza in a pose that seems to suggest 'abracadabra'.

He's going to need an awful lot of magic to become an MP for Brighton - and the Tommy Cooper in jeans and a pacamac look isn't fetching.

Clarence has taken to dog and cat charities within the area. Now he wants to save a hippo in Brighton.

I don't know about anyone else but isn't there a huge elephant in the room that needs to be released?

Aquila:

‘He's going to need an awful lot of magic to become an MP for Brighton’

He’s clearly working hard to become ‘the man of the people’ for Brighton in what certainly appears to be a hopeless battle, but I can’t believe that he has gone into this campaign without some sort of rabbit that he will pull out of the hat come next April, to turn the campaign on it’s head.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, he’ll be praying that the MM case, which he does appear to be distancing himself from, doesn’t rear it’s head & bite him on the bum before then.

What you have is a man who worked as head of MMU for the Labour government who is now singing the praises of Thatcher and is a full blue blooded Tory who wants to represent Brighton & Hove. He's spreading himself so thinly (water is more viscous) to appeal to just about anyone who'll vote for him.

This PR guru tweets rather sad pictures of himself (for a PR guru that is) not slick at all.

He's done coffee and cake, save dogs, save cats, pick up bins, pick up dog poo in the park, support local businesses, eateries...etc. His tweets are sycophantic and he's only ever surrounded by a meagre handful of people - who aren't representative of Brighton's population.

He doesn't seem to be very bright on how to appeal to people (probably because he's never had to do that) but he really ought to consider giving up Twitter. It does him no favours. titter

Awww, doesn't it warm the cockles of your heart to see Clarence Mitchell, ex-head of MMU for the Labour Party and now PPS for the Conservative Party in Brighton & Hove and spokesperson for the McCanns taking a lovely photo opportunity with Esther McVey, Employment Minister, Privy Councillor and ex board member of the McCann Limited Company.
