https://www.missingpeople.org.uk/missing-people/latest-news/missing-people-calls-for-trustees

Missing People calls for trustees

The charity Missing People is calling for passionate, dedicated, well-connected leaders to join its board of Trustees and help achieve significant growth.
This ambitious, diverse organisation is aiming to grow its income and service delivery over the next three years, in order to meet the needs of more families of missing people. Several Trustees will be appointed to facilitate this process.
Missing people is looking for board-level leaders that are willing to engage with fundraising, services and strategic work, and have the time to commit to assistance with upcoming campaigns.
Jo Youle, Missing People Chief Executive said:
“It is very important to have the most versatile, passionate board of Trustees to give us that extra edge we need and complement our existing talent.
“We need to harness our reputation and achieve the sort of growth that will help us to reach and support more affected missing people and families and we’re excited at the skills our new Trustees could bring to the table.”
Closing date for applications is 9 August.

Is this "Wider Agenda" at work for the McS?

"WE couldn't have done anything wrong, We're TRUSTEES!"

Now where have i heard THAT before, oh i know, a certain 'you can't do without ME'.... 'fund raiser'

Still, as K has said that she is NOT searching for her daughter Madeleine, because the Met are doing the searching, so she dosen't have to, she'll have a lot of spare time to fill, won't she?

Jo 'donated' to GM.

Good luck tomorrow - see you there.
Donation by Jo Youle on 27/07/13

Has Jo, Missing People Chief Executive, 'donated' to EVERY other Missing People dedicated 'fund raiser' or just this one?

IF she hasn't, WHY not?

Does anyone know if trustees are remunerated?

This job, according to the description is only 6 days attendance per year.

I find the following snippet confusing but I find the whole Missing People website confusing apart from the constant call for donations.

My comments are in blue.

Snipped

"Missing People is a national charity which offers a lifeline to the 250,000 adults and children who go missing each year. For those left behind we search and provide specialised support to end the heartache and confusion.

Offering and delivering are entirely different things. 250,000 adults and children go missing each year? - where do these figures come from? Do the UK police log 250,000 missing persons cases each year? surely anyone who contacts Missing Persons (or any of the other missing people charities) before contacting the police will be advised to do so.

We are an ambitious, passionate and energetic charity aiming to grow our income and service delivery over the next three years to meet the needs of more families of missing people. Missing People is therefore looking to appoint a number of new Trustees to its board who can help us to achieve this significant growth."

Growing income is placed before service delivery in this claim. So how much of the current income is actually dedicated to service delivery, exactly how many families of missing people are assisted and how are they assisted?

Just asking....

So, 250,000 'missing' people a year.

So that is 686 people that go 'missing' EVERY single DAY!

And according to CEOP, 480 of those 'missing' people daily, are children.

http://www.ceop.police.uk/Media-Centre/Press-releases/2012/A-child-goes-missing-in-the-UK-every-3-minutes/

Now i'm not that bright at Math but 480 (children) X 365 days = 175,200  'missing children' a year in the UK. (Ceop's 'figures')

So why haven't i seen hardly any reports, daily, about all these 'missing' children in the National newspapers?

If they 'find' say 200 of these 'missing kids' on one day that means by the end of the NEXT day there will be 760 'missing' kids!

I've underlined a very bold statement made by Missing People on one of their several donation appeal pages.

https://www.missingpeople.org.uk/missing-people/donate/make-a-one-off-donation

Right now we are helping to safely find missing people. We are reconnecting people with their loved ones daily and providing on-going support the families left behind when someone disappears.

That's a very bold and specific claim.

Families like thirteen-year-old Joanna’s.  She left for school one day with nothing other than the ingredients for her cookery class. After three days of cold rain Joanna’s mum is longing for news of her daughter.

But we couldn’t do this without the generous support of the public. A donation, of any size, allows us to help thousands of missing people and their families every year.

I've underlined the Joanna story above as at the bottom of the page in much smaller writing we are told this is a fictitious example (see below)

£50 keeps the search alive for a missing person for over two months

£25 means we can issue 10 urgent poster campaigns to find a child

£10 would pay for a volunteer to follow up a sighting of a missing child

Donate online today and show the families of missing people you haven't forgotten them.

We have used the fictitious example of Joanna to illustrate the terrible situation many families find themselves in. We felt it would be insensitive to use a real missing person’s case. We know you will understand.

So out of the 250 thousand people missing there is nobody called Joana on the list?

I will not be donating to thiis charity, but willdo so, if Missing Person Charity state that Mr. & Mrs. have donated the remaining money in their Find Maddy Fund for the benefit of all missing people. I firmly believe that as SY are now involved in an investigation then Mr. & Mrs. no longer need the fund money to search for Maddie.

Missing People 'splurge'

Families like thirteen-year-old Joanna’s.
After three days of cold rain Joanna’s mum is longing for news of her daughter.
But we couldn’t do this without the generous support of the public.

"We have used the FICTITIOUS example of Joanna"
_______________________________________________________

And that just about sums up this 'charity'

Little FACTS lots of FICTION!

But still screaming out for 'donations' to cover staff "costs" of over £1.3 MILLION a year!
___________________________________________________________________

"We are reconnecting people with their loved ones daily" (Missing People Charity)

Perhaps the Missing People Charity could put up a list of people, daily, who have been reconnected with their loved one's.

Starting TODAY?

Well, I expect their refurbished offices are now suitably plush and will pass KM's inspection. In June 2012, Missing People was in the process of having their offices redesigned by BDP (the major architectural firm which employed Joanna Yeates) courtesy of donations:

We are also redesigning the offices of Missing People as a donation led project using our skills and expertise, with the help of our colleagues in the industry.

Missing People must have been preparing themselves (like Rome) for the July arrival of their new ambassador. Couldn't possibly have her visiting 'falling apart premises', could they?

I've just looked up the Missing Persons Bureau which are shown on Missing People's website as 'Our Partners' along with CEOP, ACPO and Scottish ACPO. In the discussion section there is only one entry for a missing person from Missing Abroad and the rest are from Missing People.

The Missing Persons Bureau make it very clear to contact the police.

Here are the entry details on the Missing People website of missing Tia Harvey who has been missing since the 17th July. She is described as having orange/blonde hair.

Utterly sickening - reminds me of the NSPCC person who gave a character ref for ? Stuart Hall? Can't remember who, but recent case.
Will cross Missing Persons off my charity donation list.

I visited the Missing People site fairly recently and (can't remember where) saw a photograph of their offices.

It would be funny it it weren't so infuriating. Big posters here and there (3' x 5' approx) and on one wall a set of photographs - only about twelve - sort of 'wanted' posters as seen in police stations.

Plus a few desks nicely carpeted interior - that was it. It looked like a badly designed mock up of a real office. Neither were the 40-odd permanent staff on view - just one or two people looking like extras.

Now threy're getting a new ambassador (don't forget this was on the programme in January 2008! see the timeline for that month) she may also show them how to up the maximum on their donation button, which is a measly 50 pounds where TM at least give you the opportunity to hit the 100 pound button!

There you go Hughie Grant!
