With that background he should see straight through the "official version" . . .

I don't get it.
EVERYTHING the McCanns have ever said has been saved and stored.
ALL TV interviews, videos, statements.............EVERYTHING.
I have 6 discs full of them.
Copies are stored in at least 30 different places.

I repeat, WHAT is the point of WHOOSHING anything that has already been 'saved'?

Do the Mcs seriously think that if the videos are not 'available' then what was on those videos didn't 'happen'?

FRUIT and LOOPS spring to mind!

Well the most recent article says that interviews of suspects are soon and even arrests.
If arrests occur that means court and generally things that may get used as evidence get removed from the public domain so that the potential for jury bias is reduced. Hideho sent scotlandyard lots of these videos and they all go together in building a picture of the reliability of two specific witnesses.

People should find out why they were removed and who requested it first as opposed to just replacing it in a content battle.
I'm sure that if it was needed for court and it turned up everywhere a good solicitor could argue for it to Be disregarded from any trial which could go against justice.

I agree, the videos could well have been removed for an up And coming court case.
When the Philpott trial was coming up I decided to watch his infamous appearance on Jeremy Kyle which was on YouTube but it had been removed for the exact same reason.

@Cherry wrote:Missing Abroad appoints ex-Met Head of Homicide and Serious Crime
Submitted by support team on January 7, 2013 - 2:49pm
Missing Abroad is delighted to announce the appointment of another key advisor. Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Commander Simon Foy retired recently and immediately agreed to join us as a special police advisor.
Simon Foy

Having joined the service in 1982 – he served in a variety of postings across South West London. He was a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) dealing with the investigation of murder and led the then newly formed teams dealing with child abuse. Later promotion took him to Brixton – where as Chief Superintendent he served for three years in one of the most demanding policing environments in
the UK. A posting to the private office of the then Commissioner Sir John Stevens followed and in 2003 he was promoted to the rank of Commander.
From 2007 to 2012 he was the head of the MPS Homicide and Serious Crime Command, dealing with the investigation of murder and serious crime in both London and (where called on) around the world. In 2009 he became the head of the new specialist crime teams dealing with the investigation of rape, and also the teams dealing with child abuse and paedophile activity.
As a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), he was the national lead for the role of family liaison officers – one of the most important and significant developments in the history of the investigation of murder and serious crime. He was also Deputy Chair of the ACPO Homicide Working Group, and Chair of the Europol Homicide Working Group. As a member of ACPO he also took part in the creation by the Ministry of Justice of the first specialist team set up to give on-going and practical support to all families of murder victims in England and Wales – the National Homicide Service. He was awarded the Queens Police Medial in the Birthday Honours list of 2009.
He has lectured and worked in Australia as the visiting fellow to the New South Wales Police strategic management course, is an associate of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) in the United States and has involved in training around issues on human rights and investigation in China.
Obviously Simon brings a huge wealth of knowledge to Missing Abroad. He joins  ex-Detective Superintendent Neville Blackwood who joined us after a long career with Surrey Police culminating in a position as Police Advisor to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Being able to call on such knowledge and experience as provided by Simon and Neville enables us to provide families with valid, timely, and accurate information at the point they need it most. Clearly the contacts that our advisors have gathered over the years is an incredible asset as well.
Simon recognises the need for support in the fields we work:
‘I have a long standing and deep commitment to the need to support families who experience events that are deeply disturbing to them and have a great impact on their lives. I was extremely proud to be the leader of the profession of family liaison officers within the police service – and of the commitment that these officers made not only to the success or failure of the investigation – but also to the support that they give to the families who have experienced the trauma of death.
‘It is also very clear to me that those families who have relatives who go missing or are killed abroad suffer terribly – and desperately need on-going support through what is a difficult time. This is sometime made even more traumatic by the fact that their loved one has gone missing in another country – with all the complications of different laws, languages and culture etc.
‘This is where the work that Missing Abroad does is so vital – and I am delighted to be able to give whatever help and support I can to the organisation – which does such vital and important work.’

I'd never heard of Missing Abroad and it's quite amazing that it seems to be one of the few organisations not annexed by the mcCann affair.
It was set up in 2000. http://www.missingabroad.org/about-us

Missing Abroad is entirely managed and operated by The Lucie Blackman Trust, a charity registered with the Charity Commission. Its registration number is 1118143.
At least their accounts should be in order being a charity and presumably the Lucie Blackman Trust keeps an eye on the activities of their Charity.

Perhaps somebody can find the video associated with this press conference?
Quote:
McCanns lose their calm 24horas
Kate and Gerry at the European Parliament, to speak about missing children

Text: Rute Coelho, 18 June 2008
Thanks to 'astro' for translation

The McCanns were in Strasbourg yesterday to take care of a petition and ended up reacting, in an irritated manner, to questions from the journalists about the evening of the 3rd of May 2007

Kate and Gerry were in Strasbourg yesterday, where they convinced 225 MEPs to sign the petition for the creation of a European alert system for missing children. The problem, for the McCanns, was the press conference that they gave in the late afternoon. The journalists' favourite dish was not the petition, but rather the couple's behaviour on the evening of the 3rd of May 2007, when Madeleine disappeared in Praia da Luz, Algarve.

One of the questions was why they left their daughter alone on the fateful night. The McCanns reacted with a bad temper. The "real issue", they underlined, is the abduction. "We did not abandon or neglect Madeleine. Someone entered the apartment and took a child. That is the issue. To go over that matter is very boring", Gerry McCann said. Kate supported her husband, with the same irritation: "The real issue is that a child was abducted and there is a criminal who is still out there".

Gerry insisted. "We need to focus on the real issue. Continuously raising that question is unhelpful. Nothing has changed over the last 14 months and I don't understand why we are talking about that, again".

The couple only calmed down when they were allowed to speak again about the issue that was on their agenda: the petition to create a European alert system for missing children. Kate and Gerry thanked the 225 MEPs that have already signed the petition, and exhorted others to do it.

They remembered that 393 signatures are necessary, half of the hemicycle, until the end of July, in order for the text to be sent to the European Commission and for the communitarian executive to present a proposal in that sense to the Council. In Brussels' hallways, there are some who accuse the McCanns of a "media manoeuvre" with this initiative.

"What is the use of this petition? There is already a European law proposal for the creation of such an alert system. It is on its way to being approved in Strasbourg, and then to be taken before the European Commission. That proposal, which has been worked upon for quite some time, will then have to be approved by each member state", a source in Brussels criticized.

I don't think you can can you deafoldbat. I have just realised it was on the main forum and moved to admin becasue of the email Missing Abroad sent to Inspector Frost as to why Madeleine was not on their site, and it caused quite a stir. IF then wanted the thread and his email removed, so it it was put in admin.

It seems to be about people who are genuinely missing !
None of the others seem to fit into that description.

I'm in the U K too, deafoldbat. There was another link to a forum topic which has now been removed.

I thought that Missing Abroad sounded familiar and yes it was because of that forum topic.

All sorted now.

"We did not abandon or neglect Madeleine. Someone entered the apartment and took a child. That is the issue. To go over that matter is very boring", Gerry McCann said.

Could not resist posting this again (from above article) I'd so love to see him saying that.
This is when they're still arguidos, yet they are addressing the European Parliament on a European Alert system. The UK press dutifully present this as an enterprise of the McCanns, yet it was already tabled the previous year before Maddie McCann disappeared.

So it's very boring to have to go over that again is it? But it is the central issue imo.

Yep, taking care of your children is boring. Watching them at night, having to pick them up from the creche. After all it was their vacation too.

There is something quite gratifying in watching the McCanns being asked the same old questions over and over again - you can see it irks them!  Especially when asked to describe about the night of 3rd May - and they still get that one.  They know they dare not get the story wrong because a million eyes are watching and waiting for them to slip up.  No wonder the tapas 7 have kept schtum.

The media have not to my knowledge intruded upon the privacy of the twins or the children of the Tapas 7. The media have conducted themselves correctly with respect to the children.

Kate McCann chose to sit on Lorraine's sofa whilst peddling her latest fund-raiser and talk about her twins by name and how she was finally able to leave them in a car whilst paying for petrol. In a subsequent interview somewhere or other on telly she was thinking about allowing them a sleepover (I hate that term - it's American - no offense to American members here).

The McCanns want their children to have normal lives in privacy - all kids deserve that. The McCanns worry about what their children might see on the internet etc...and yet the McCanns talk about their 8 year old twins by name on national television. How much privacy do the McCanns afford their own twins?

or...in terms of marketing is it a good ploy?

just my opinion.

Good points.  The question of the twins has always been a bit of a moral dilemma, and I would not be a member of anywhere that did not treat the subject sensitively, and I think we are all in agreement here.

However, I agree with what you are saying. They should have dropped the use of the childrens' christian names long ago. Playgrounds can be pretty cruel places.  Actually I think all the 'advice' they have had regarding the children is diabolical, small children should not be told monsters climb in their windows and steal kids!

But I digress. They really are perpetuating the limelight themselves.  No-one is forcing them to do it.  Not so long Gerry appointed himself public spokesman for a campaign that wanted to censor our press.  Will he pigsqueal libel if we point out we didn't vote for him? I actually do feel for those two kids, and if they are to have any sense of normality this circus must stop.

I remember many years ago a colleague of mine who had a severely physically disabled sister telling me that a disabled child in the family is a disabled family. Nothing's changed in all those years then.

I would have much more respect for the McCanns if they didn't offer their twins up in the media as and when it suits them. I can't imagine what it's like for the twins having their parents on national television talking about leaving them in a car to pay for petrol or 'mummy' is considering letting us have a sleepover.

Remember that it was Gerry who started his blogs speaking constantly about his twins constantly telling us about their progress, the reasons to keep going to maintain a normal life for them. It's 6 years on and the twins are still being mentioned. The twins did nothing wrong. Madeleine did nothing wrong. The McCanns talk about the twins by name in the media.

I apologise for going off topic from the thread.

ETA. When I made reference to my colleage with regards to a disabled child in the family - in the case of the McCanns I meant a disastrous event happening in the family.

Back to the wooshed videos: I've read here or elsewhere [sorry - busy days- le château is very popular in summer ...] that in theory it IS possible that incriminating videos were removed to either be used in evidence or kept out of sight of future jury members. A thought, but not a bad one, I think.

Yes quite.
On being asked the same old questions, time and time again about the night of May 3rd the McCann's trot out the same line ,word for word, they never contradict each other which is odd, sticking religiously to the script, unfortunately, their body language gives them away.
