high5  Think you've cracked it there Jean

It's all the blathering that they do in interviews, statements etc (the rogatories being the best example) No one can answer a simple question in as few words as possible...they all just keep gibbering on and on and on, making very little sense.

I'm sure I remember a thread from the old 3A where someone removed all of the err's, umm's, you know's from the rogies in the hope that it might provide some clarity, but in fact it made even less sense

What???  So one of your relatives is having a heart attack, and both of you as fully qualified doctors (one a heart specialist) do nothing to help
and instead let your toddler crawl all over them..If I was in that situation and had the medical knowledge, fair enough I'd call for an ambulance, but I'd be checking their pulse etc, making sure they remained calm and I would be ushering children out of the room, not allowing them to potentially cause harm to my stricken family member!.

I didn't think I could be surprised any more at the actions of the Dr's McCann...I was wrong...

Also glad that I heard that correctly in the video that Kate says "Madeleine was there"  For all of their lying, they have an incredible ability to keep slotting the truth in from time to time.

Well said Mr. clapping

CALL for help, not dash out of an apartment where an abductor might still be lurking and leave your other two children alone. Could have CALLED from the balcony or used the mobile but she ran over to the bar all of a flap to say Maddie had been taken. Just how she knew Maddie had been taken at that stage has never been explained other than (iirc) that she just knew.

Yes Plebgate, the infamous NoTW interview with Kate doing her best "pensive" look, saying "I know what happened due to what I saw in the apartment, but due to Portugal's secrecy laws and being an arguida, I can't disclose what is was (not her actual words but along those lines)

Arguido status lifted and several years down the line, and Kate has still not enlightened us to this potentially vital piece of evidence that proves the abduction theory.

@Penfold wrote:Cardiologists, in general, are gifted and vital people, but they are not much use if they haven't got all the gubbins in the Cath. Lab around them. G and K appear to have less knowledge about how to look after a heart attack patient than the average first aider has. Running around flapping and letting kids play with plastic stethoscopes is not in the manual!

Here it is: Chapter 3 from the book:

Three days before I went into hospital, Gerry’s Uncle Pat and Aunt Alexis came up from Essex to see us – and within an hour of their arrival, Uncle Pat, an ex-professional footballer, collapsed with a heart attack. When he slumped on Alexis’s shoulder we thought at first he was just messing about. We soon realized he wasn’t. As Gerry phoned for an ambulance and I worried that I was going to need to begin CPR – which would have been pretty difficult given that my belly was the size of a small barn and I could hardly move – a delivery man came to the door with a Chinese takeaway we’d ordered. Amid the pandemonium, Madeleine appeared, pushing her Early Learning Centre medical trolley, placed her toy stethoscope on Uncle Pat’s chest and said, ‘Boom, boom!’ Talk about surreal.
Gerry was able to get hold of some of his on-call colleagues and explain the situation, so in spite of a slight delay with the ambulance, Uncle Pat was rushed straight through when he got to the hospital and the problem artery was unblocked. Thankfully, he was soon on the road to recovery. If you’re going to have a heart attack, perhaps a cardiologist’s house is not a bad place to have it.

Did Portugal's secrecy laws extend to her not being allowed to tell the police in her statements, because there are no details there either.

As Chatelaine said these videos are invaluable because of the facial expressions, ear tugging, nose rubbing, crotch grabbing and all the other actions.  A picture tells a thousand words and as WhoWhatWhere said about the Philpotts ~ you could just tell by that policeman's face watching the crocodile tears that he didn't believe a word they said!

On C4 next Wed or Thurs there's a programme on about the Philpotts and other criminals who've courted the press and wept on camera.  Then they've been found out to be guilty of the crime.  I remember Tracie Andrews' lies when she said her boyfriend had been killed in a road rage incident. She was the killer and now she's free with new identity, courtesy of the tax payer. There was another lad who wept on the news about how he'd cradled a dying woman in a multi storey car park.  Turned out he was the killer ~ can't remember his name or when it was, but it just shows how warped some folks are.  Narcisstic phsycopaths.

Ah well Tigger, we know how wonderfully advanced Madeleine was for her age because of her interest in Harry Potter, Doctor Who and the Pussycat Dolls!

I did wonder if the aunt and uncle even existed - not on Gerry's father's side of the family certainly but they could be on his mother Eileen's side.

P.S. There are indeed a Patrick and Alexis Ferry (Gerry's mother's maiden name) in Essex, plus Madeleine Ferry at the same address! Sorry Kate, but it's so hard to believe anything of someone who is so economical with the truth.

A truly remarkable child, who even at that age knew how to operate a stethoscope, and how to osculate a chest. Does the kit include a defibrillator ?

Catching a Killer: Crocodile Tears

n the light of several recent high-profile cases, this documentary examines the phenomenon of ‘crocodile tears’: where people who feign innocence or make public appeals for information – often on camera – in reality have committed the crime themselves. Featuring several exclusive interviews and shedding new light on crimes that shocked the nation, this film looks beyond the fake tears to reveal stories of deception and betrayal.

Catching A Killer: Crocodile Tears re-examines the Philpott case, in which Mick and his wife Mairead, who took part in a press conference after their house fire killed six children, were finally convicted of their manslaughter in April 2013, along with their best friend Paul Mosley. With exclusive access to Paul Mosley’s brother Bryan, the film hears a tearful account of how residents were affected by the deaths of the six children. Bryan speaks for the first time of his anger regarding the actions of his brother and his part in the arson attack.

Exploring the Philpotts’ now infamous press conference after the fire, Darshna Soni, who covered the story for Channel 4 News, goes back to the scene. This was the point, she says, where everything changed. She recalls in detail the utter bewilderment among the assembled press as they tried to comprehend Mick Philpott’s extraordinary performance in front of the cameras.

Mick Philpott’s former partner of several years, Heather Keogh, was 14 when they started an affair. She was the ‘star’ witness in his trial, and for the first time on film, Heather reveals details about their relationship. She describes enduring often abusive, threatening and violent behaviour as well as the various methods Philpott would us to exercise control over her.

The film hears first hand testimony from the children’s two godparents, who raised money for the funerals and helped bring together the Derby community to support the Philpotts, only to discover this shocking betrayal as the real truth emerged. The Butler brothers, Darren and Jamie, who tried in vain to rescue the Philpott children from the house fire also speak about how Mick and Mairead stood back and did nothing during the blaze. Jamie in particular feels that the tragedy has destroyed his life. The brothers also talk about their decision to go to the police with their suspicions after the Philpotts’ press conference.

The film explores the case of Stuart Hazell, convicted in May 2013 for the murder of 12-year-old Tia Sharp in South London in August 2012. In a powerful and emotional interview, her father Steven Carter, talks about how Hazell, boyfriend to Tia’s grandmother, joined in the search for his daughter, deceiving everyone during the week she was missing.

Detective Constable Alison Grubb from the Metropolitan Police, whose role was to support the family throughout the search for Tia, speaks for the first time about Hazell's behaviour during the week following Tia’s disappearance. She also describes the moment she realised that Tia's body was in the house.

Local newspaper reporter, David Churchill, who covered Tia’s disappearance adds further information about the growing suspicions surrounding Hazell’s involvement and that his television interview – given the day before Tia’s body was discovered – only increased those doubts.

The disappearance and murder of Shafilea Ahmed in 2003, for which her parents were found guilty last year, is also examined. The couple's own lawyer, Milton Firman, gives his first account of his relationship with Shafilea’s parents and how he was convinced by their claims of innocence.

Simon Foy, former Head of Homicide and Serious Crime at Scotland Yard, offers his own insights into crocodile tears cases – whether they are on the increase and the clues that investigators look out for whilst examining a case.

They caught and tried those involved quickly so why has it taking forever for SY to investigate this case?

There was a video of Darshna Soni's C4 interview with the Mcs it still appears to be available on YouTube, but I'm having trouble playing vids at the mo.  At the time it was discussed and thought that it was a decent interview for a change.  I wish she'd interview them again.

Missing Abroad appoints ex-Met Head of Homicide and Serious Crime
Submitted by support team on January 7, 2013 - 2:49pm
Missing Abroad is delighted to announce the appointment of another key advisor. Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Commander Simon Foy retired recently and immediately agreed to join us as a special police advisor.
Simon Foy

Having joined the service in 1982 – he served in a variety of postings across South West London. He was a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) dealing with the investigation of murder and led the then newly formed teams dealing with child abuse. Later promotion took him to Brixton – where as Chief Superintendent he served for three years in one of the most demanding policing environments in
the UK. A posting to the private office of the then Commissioner Sir John Stevens followed and in 2003 he was promoted to the rank of Commander.
From 2007 to 2012 he was the head of the MPS Homicide and Serious Crime Command, dealing with the investigation of murder and serious crime in both London and (where called on) around the world. In 2009 he became the head of the new specialist crime teams dealing with the investigation of rape, and also the teams dealing with child abuse and paedophile activity.
As a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), he was the national lead for the role of family liaison officers – one of the most important and significant developments in the history of the investigation of murder and serious crime. He was also Deputy Chair of the ACPO Homicide Working Group, and Chair of the Europol Homicide Working Group. As a member of ACPO he also took part in the creation by the Ministry of Justice of the first specialist team set up to give on-going and practical support to all families of murder victims in England and Wales – the National Homicide Service. He was awarded the Queens Police Medial in the Birthday Honours list of 2009.
He has lectured and worked in Australia as the visiting fellow to the New South Wales Police strategic management course, is an associate of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) in the United States and has involved in training around issues on human rights and investigation in China.
Obviously Simon brings a huge wealth of knowledge to Missing Abroad. He joins  ex-Detective Superintendent Neville Blackwood who joined us after a long career with Surrey Police culminating in a position as Police Advisor to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Being able to call on such knowledge and experience as provided by Simon and Neville enables us to provide families with valid, timely, and accurate information at the point they need it most. Clearly the contacts that our advisors have gathered over the years is an incredible asset as well.
Simon recognises the need for support in the fields we work:
‘I have a long standing and deep commitment to the need to support families who experience events that are deeply disturbing to them and have a great impact on their lives. I was extremely proud to be the leader of the profession of family liaison officers within the police service – and of the commitment that these officers made not only to the success or failure of the investigation – but also to the support that they give to the families who have experienced the trauma of death.
‘It is also very clear to me that those families who have relatives who go missing or are killed abroad suffer terribly – and desperately need on-going support through what is a difficult time. This is sometime made even more traumatic by the fact that their loved one has gone missing in another country – with all the complications of different laws, languages and culture etc.
‘This is where the work that Missing Abroad does is so vital – and I am delighted to be able to give whatever help and support I can to the organisation – which does such vital and important work.’
