NHS 'gagging clauses' banned by health secretary

The government has banned the inclusion of "gagging
clauses" in NHS severance agreements with immediate effect.

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt told the Daily Mail "the era of gagging NHS
staff from raising their real worries about patient care" must end.

It follows his call for a "culture of openness and transparency" in the
NHS.

Last month, Mr Hunt wrote to all English NHS trusts warning bosses not to gag
whistle-blowers with genuine concerns about patient care.

The clauses' use in the NHS is thought to have been widespread

It would be even better if the gagging clauses already in place were negated.

Yes, but I wonder if 'old complaints' can come forward as 'new complaints'.

In the interests of openness and transparency why doesn't Jeremy Hunt publish the exact amount that has been paid out over the years for gagging whistleblowers. Then sack all the health board chiefs who agreed to them.
Not on your nelly.

Not on your nelly.

Why don't the NHS publish how much each authority spends on PR and Crisis Management and the names of the external companies used? It's public money.
