Neither will become a State, but both will eventually become Regions under a European Government.
National governments will become ever more emasculated, final power will vest in Brussels in the hands of unelected supremos, whilst the work will be done at regional level. Many countries are already set up in this way already, Spain, France, Germany. Britain is almost ready with Scotland and Wales, and then it would only require Prescott's regionalisation to go ahead and England would be split up into units to small to be able to do anything for themselves.
It is said that the agreement to drop the insistence on a United Ireland was because the big money people in Dublin, then in receipt of enormous amounts of European funds, realised that if it were united it would then consist of three regions. Dublin, Ulster and Galway (Kerry, Cork, Limerick etc) and the latter would then be in most need of funds, at the expense of Dublin.
Money talks and the IRA / Sinn Fein changed tack.
Or so it is said !

This poem was written over 123 years ago by Miss J E Clark of Eynsham, Kent, and published in ‘Judy’ magazine on 28 August 1889:

Plans for separation grew worse than those before,

Then they asked for two Parliaments, now ‘tis three or four.

Only just imagine if Home Rulers had their way,

And this is something like the tale the world might hear one day:

One United Kingdom they fancied wouldn’t do -

To please some grumbling Irish, they split it into two.

Two little Kingdoms, but then the Scots you see,

Claimed their ancient throne and rights, and then there were three.

Three little Kingdoms, and after that one more,

For Welshmen claimed a Parliament, and then there were four.

Four little Kingdoms wouldn’t do at all!

One of them was far too big; the others far too small.

All throughout Great Britian, ancient hates revived;

Cornwall wants to rule herself, and then there were five.

Five little Kingdoms, but London in a fix,

Raised the ‘Southern English’ flag - and then there were six.

Six little Kingdoms, alas! the Home Rule ‘heaven’

Caused a rising in the West, and then there were seven.

Seven little Kingdoms; Northmen wouldn’t wait,

But started the Northumbrian state, and then there were eight.

And the towns that one may visit by the Eastern Counties line

Held their own East Anglian Parliament – and then there were nine.

Nine little Kingdoms, the Midlands people then

Called a Parliament themselves, and then there were ten.

Ten little kingdoms never could agree

How to work together, and so they went ‘free’.

Ten little Kingdoms, with constitutions new

Ten little Kingdoms always in a stew.

Ten little Kingdoms, too weak to stand alone

A foreign nation conquered them, and now there were none”

That is such an appropriate poem TB.

Unscrupulous people with a lust for power in their own lifetime will resort to create their own little empires whilst the EU are hopeful of that. Divide and conquer it is indeed. Rich countries within the EU have seen their nations' identities homogonised (is that how you spell it?). The 'open for business' policies have seen a rush of immigration which puts so much strain on the economies of these nations and the average taxpayers pay the price not only financially but see their cultural essence being diluted. The rich countries of the EU have a housing shortage, an ever increasing (baby boom) immigrant population and a drain on every resource which worsens year on year.

Just before anyone thinks I am bordering on fascism I'll offer my own experience. I moved to Greece. I was a positive economic migrant. I took no-one's job. I spent money in the country. I claimed nothing. I paid for medical treatment. I paid taxes. I didn't live in 'little England' and joined in with the Greek community. I was always mindful of being a guest in their country. The last tax return I completed in Greece I was told that I had to prove that I had an income of at least 12,000 euros per annum to support myself. I was told that British bank statements were not acceptable and the money had to go into a bank in Greece. Nothing particularly 'open door' about that new rule. As far as I'm aware, the rich nations of Europe don't ask for this from anyone who comes into their country from another European country.

What I'm trying to say (and not doing it very well) is that when the financial and cultural strain becomes too much for any indigenous population there lies the birth of sects and the breakdown of politics. The EU rub their hands together at this and IMO encourage it. The EU knew Greece was fabricating the figures to join. The EU knew Greece has a reputation for tax avoidance. There was a much wider agenda and Greece was encouraged and assisted to take the EU gold.

Divide and conquer. It would be interesting to see a referendum in all the rich nations of the EU.

Just my opinion.

Corbyn's been elected Leader of the Labour Party

Post by aquila on 12.09.15 14:46

I didn't want to start a new topic so I'm tagging onto this one if it's ok.

I see Corbyn has been elected to the strains of The Red Flag playing.

I've taken the liberty of writing new lyrics.

...............................

The working class can kiss my arse
I've got the leader's job at last

I'll welcome migrants and their rights
So don't complain just be polite

Your parents died in WW2
And British culture's down the loo

The EU calls, your culture falls
Just spend your cash in shopping malls

The Labour Party is no more
No socialism that's for sure

The red flag's red with British blood
Your heritage is nearly dud

Just celebrate the Marxist view
Embrace the 'new' red overview

Be proud to be minority
It is the future don't you see

We're all a great big melting pot
And we'll be rich and you'll be not

Great poem, Aquila, and so full of universal truths.

Often the "compassion" of politicians is nothing more than the need for future votes, or other not altruistic motives.

I think the three out of 17 in the poll who voted that Catalonia would become independent first have been proved right:

...unless Spain now invades Catalonia...
