No.

But you may have a coffee-coloured verse:

Uffercoffy is a star
You glean that from her avatar
Needs gallons of coffee to keep her going
Into her veins the drink keeps flowing
Now some of us may think that may be somewhat unhygienic
But her signature (just like Keela) points us to fluids in the Scenic.

(This verse doesn’t really scan
But I’m doing the best I can)

Tony, perhaps you could just do a joint poem for us all!

Chatelaine is from Zeeland - and so Dutch
Her signature on MCF told us as much;
It went ‘Al is de leugen nog zo snel, de waarheid achterhaalt haar wel’
But nobody could understand it - Ah well!

Now she’s in France, ensconced in her chateau
(Although some say it’s merely a villa)
Chatelaine has her circumflex
While Goncalo has his cedilla.

Well, enough of limericks and poems, let's try a clerihew:

CMOMM

Arose from the embers

Of The 3 Arguidos

Now it has 2,087 members.

And before you all go to bed and slumber

2,087 happens to be a prime number.

Thank you, Tony
Châtelaine
Gonçalo

"Al is de leugen nog zo snel, de waarheid achterhaalt haar wel"
= The lie may be fast, but truth will catch up with her.

Good night to you et al.

ETA the villa was in Cannes. The château is not impressive [thanks heaven], but it is a real one ... with a history going back to the 10th century.

ETA2 And I am NOT from Zeeland. Who told you that?

Since we're in a mood for limericks, here's my contribution:

To court for a case goes Bennett
We hope and we pray he will win it
For McCanns and C. Ruck
Just want a fast buck
Let's tell them how much we're again' it.

I'm not too happy with the fourth line but I couldn't find a better rhyme, as Nauseous used to say to Lurcio in Up Pompeii..

Anyone remember that?

Up Pompeii (and Carter-Ruck)

Post by Guest on 07.01.13 9:03

What memories, Statsman! Up Pompeii was one of those rare programmes that I could watch with my mother without too much embarrassment as the jokes were considered acceptable to her.

I remember a friend warning me not to see the film version with her as that was far more risque.

Here's a link to clips involving odes that didn't rhyme.

Note to self: don't comment anymore at 1am as it seems I lose my ability to write tongue-in-cheek by that time

Maddie McCann
Trusted a man.
He was her father
But he let her down, rather.
