Costa Concordia captain sues employer for wrongful dismissal nine months after cruise ship smashed into a reef claiming 32 lives

Costa Concordia captain sues employer for wrongful dismissal nine months after cruise ship smashed into a reef claiming 32 lives


The Naples-born captain has always acknowledged making mistakes once it became clear that the 144,400-tonne Costa Concordia was in trouble.

But he has said he was not the only one who should be blamed for the tragedy.

Some will remember that Clarence Mitchell was employed by the company shortly after the disaster and he wasted no time in pointing the finger of blame squarely at the captain's feet.

In which case he will no doubt in turn be sued for libel. Lawyers have to eat, you know !

If the captain were guilty, under continental law, so would be his employer.
Maybe CM wasn't informed of this, before setting out to destroy the captain?
