Indeed, civilisation exists at the discretion of climate and geology. We're overdue for the next ice age.
It's such a pity they renamed the previous ice ages (in fact a misnomer in itself since we're only in an interstadial) - the three main ones were called Riss, Mindel and Wurm. I've always wanted three dogs so I could name them accordingly.

It was the same for a Zimbabwean girl I used to work with - she had never seen snow until she came to England (driven out by Robert Mugabe's "government") - and she was as excited as a child when it happened.
