I use to post on Bruntys blog, it got so bad the posts disappeared while you were reading them.

I'm not sure if this is the same Birch fella

but he has opened up a can of worms.

As a dog owner, I am somewhat perplexed

by his lack of knowledge of dogs. He states

that he entered the property when 3 of the

4 dogs were inside, as if this would provide

a more decreit opportunity to conduct his

search. However, dogs have very acute sense

of hearing no matter if they are indoors, and

would have surely 'barked the place' thereby

setting off the dog outside. I'm sorry, but to

enter the property on numerous occasions in

the dead of night without being heard or

rumbled by these dogs I find barking mad.

I agree. My dogs already bark when there's someone at the gate, which is a 120 meter from the house ...

Supposing I believe this post is from Stephen Birch (which I don't) what is absolutely appalling is that an elderly lady's address has been given out, details of her dogs' whereabouts and how to break into her garden and avoid detection by said dogs and anyone else. That really is malicious and unnecessary imo. How would you feel if someone posted on the internet how to get onto your property? It's probably too late to delete that information but I really do think it's remiss not to remind ourselves that whoever lives in that property is now probably scared to death and is it not irresponsible to pull up the poster who gave this information?

I think that there is already a great deal of information already in the public eye about the Murat house Aquila, including detailed layouts of the house and supposed secret chambers that exist that were printed in the press. I do not think Birch has told us anything really that is new.

Hi uppatoffee,

I agree the Murats' house has been exposed in the media. What hasn't been detailed is how to break into its garden and avoid detection by dogs or anyone else. I have a little bee in my bonnett about this information being acceptable.

I see what you mean Aquila but I feel that the description of getting in to the garden without being eaten by the dogs is a work of fiction anyway.

I can't see that it will encourage anyone else to try it!

If I were to stand in Mrs Murat's shoes would I be so confident that there isn't some nutter out there wanting their 15 minutes of fame? I think it is not good to allow this info onto the forum. I am saying this at the risk of being heavily slated but it's my honest opinion.

Have to say I agree with you aquila. It is disturbing that an elderly woman has been dragged into the nasty mix in this way. I wonder if Mr Birch fears trouble for wasting police time with his theory, esp if it is untrue that they are taking him seriously and inviting him back to Portugal and he is feeding the media garbage.
I just hope there is method behind his apparent madness.

Open minds

Post by Gizmosgirl on 14.07.12 16:45

I have been reading this forum's messages for a while and was delighted to see:
1. Stephen Birch's posts appearing
2. Verification from Admin that his profile links to his business email....
3. Previously constructive discussion about recent events

Like many others this case disturbs me, because it appears the guilty are not just getting away scot-free but profiting from the death of Madeleine. Even worse, their social power appears to increase with each successive year.

Let's face facts:
Madeleine's death was becoming a cold case with every year that passes, while everyone bitches and moans about the fact the media and parents seem to be obstructing any chance of it being reactivated.

Until Stephen Birch did what he did, there was next to zero chance of this case being reactivated this decade!

Now, can we all just get on with focusing constructively on recent events with open minds and stop whining and bitching about grammar and fame seekers? It's really negative.

For those who keep harping on about Birch's posts being fake will you kindly READ the post from Admin where they state his IP is South African and his profile links to his business email address!

I'm really disappointed in most of you fellow posters. This is a good forum but it's deteriorating into a whiny, narrow-minded, bitchy place to read things. And for goodness sake get over the man's grammar. In South Africa the English language gets obscured somewhat by the fact Afrikaans is predominant - a form of Dutch for those who don't know. Many English-speaking South Africans have learned English as a second language, not their home tongue!

I have a degree in English literature, have been an editor for several years and am South African. I see it all the time. But I spent a year living in an apartment on Fulham Rd, Chelsea with British flat mates who couldn't spell to save their lives. So really, what's the difference. Information is important here, not a man's grammar!

Gizmosgirl, if by any chance you would be referring to my question about the use of "of" instead of "have", that is no matter of spelling mistake but an acquired way of using words. Not being English and English not even being my second language, I wondered - as I had seen this "of" instead of "have" many a times in comments of British posters, some of them Scottish, here and elsewhere on the fora, IF an English speaking South African would use the same "of" instead of "have". I believe PeterMac [British] confirmed it would be in use in England, but not in Scotland.

"We", if I may speak for others too, are not bitching, yet seriously trying to analyse every single angle and detail in this case and everything published about it, in order to find the truth about a girl, who seems sadly not to be there anymore.

McCann: Stephen 'Coldwater' Birch ....Again.

Post by Nelly6969 on 14.07.12 17:28

Forgive me if this is already on here as I haven't seen it but it is credited to this forum.

Source : Jill Havern Forum

Good evening All

Let
me first inform the readers regarding the latest developments
pertaining to the case. Firstly the Portimoa Police are handling the
investigation. Today I received a letter from the Portimoa Police
opening a line of communication. The letter was non commital and only
said to inform me that they would contact me if need be. That's totally
unacceptable to me. So I wrote back immediately telling them I wanted
acceptable responses to my letters, failing which I would go to the
Portuguese Press and apologize on behalf of the Portimoa Police, that
they had let the entire Portuguese Nation down, and had discreted the
Portuguese people worldwide. I gave them 7 days to respond. We wait and
see. A frustrating time for me.

Tomorrow the Portuguese papers
carry a front page story about me. I expect an enormous response. I,ll
discuss the contents tomorrow after it has broken and why I chose to go
that route. Perhaps some Portuguese speaking people will pick up on the
story.

Question and answer time:

How did I get the machine
to Portugal ? Good question, well I went on a holday visa, so you can
imagine me going through customs pushing a ground penetrating radar
machine that looks like a lawnmower through customs, and when the
official asks me whats the purpose of your visit Mr Birch ??? , I say "
Holiday" lol....no seriously I first went to London on the 14th June to
pay for the hire of the machine. When I got to London, the agent
informed he'd, based on the South African agent standing security for
me, already couried the machine, boxed, via DHL to Praia da luz, and he
confirmed that it had already arrived there. All I did was pay him in
cash (pounds). Painful, the rands worth nothing, 13 rand to 1 pound.

Did
I search any other place. 15 months of research had revealed that only
two places existed where MADELEINE could be buried. The botanical garden
next to the Murat house or the Murat garden. However when I got to
Praia da luz, I eliminated the botanical garden for 3 reasons, firstly
townhouses look onto it, secondly the steel gate giving access to the
property remained locked 24 hours a day, and thirdly the trees in the
garden are thin stemmed young trees with very few leaves.

Why
this forum....hmmm I heard Jill was hot and single and very rich, and
given the fact that Robert Murat might take legal action against me, I
thought I needed to keep my options open, hahaha.

My spelling - do I get a gold star.

Lets
talk about me going into the garden, yes it's a very contraversial
thing to do I agree, but it's brought the investigation back to where
it's suppose to be, in Praia da luz and not in India !!! Was there any
other way I could of gone about this investigation, the answer to that
question I believe is no. The property had been searched and nothing
found. It's hard enough to get the Portuguese Police to go back into the
property with scans showing something buried beneath the driveway. How
hard would it be to get them to go back into the property with no proof
!! It's been 2 weeks since Expresso interviewed me at Lisbon airport and
the story broke - and the Portuguese Police have done nothing. The site
lies unprotected.

Why am I concerned that there is no British
media coverage ? This is a British little girl that went missing, the
McCanns and the British press run from India to Morrocco to Australia to
look at potential sighting of the missing girl. I come along and think I
have found her 130 meters from where she went missing, and every
British newspaper editor, in the UK is to scared to run the story for
fear of being sued by either the Mc Canns or the Murats.Where's freedom
of the press. This is a British girl, or am I missing something. And why
is the British press so obscessed with her being alive. Surely the
possibilty of her being dead and buried under the Murat driveway, must
be investigated first, before they run off to India and Tiger infested
jungles. Or am I wrong. Help me here people.

Then there's the
issue of Jenny Murat and me upsetting her. I'd like the opportunity to
sit with Mrs Murat and have a cup of tea with her. I am not the villan
here, I understand that she may get upset, but what if I am rightand we
find the little girls remains under that driveway. Will you still worry
about Mrs Murat being upset. This is about finding a missing little
girl, and sometimes unfortunately someone is going to get upset. That is
unfortunate. I thought long and hard about this before I embarked on
this operation, there was just no other options.

Are the Police
taking me seriously. I think yes they are, only because they being put
under pressure by the Portuguese media who are rallying the Portuguese
people behind me for answers....otherwise they being goverment
employees, I don't think they would care. Sad but true. Why haven't they
isolated the site, a good question, and a big problem for me. Totally
unacceptable. If it were in the US or UK, that site would be under
lock-down. The current situation is totally unacceptable.

Lastly I
want you to please for one minute think about the enormous risk that I
have taken in undertaking this investigation. I am not talking about the
R500 000 I spend. It,s money and can be made again. I am talking about
my reputation. Have you ever stopped to think about the enormous
pressure that is on me.This is a worldwide story. What happens if I am
wrong and she is not there - Will I be the laughing stock of the world -

Would you take that risk and step out of your comfort zone from behind that computer, in your safe office or home -would you ???

Have a great evening everyone wherever you are.

Regards Stephen D. Birch

Chatelaine

No, it wasn't just your post that began to irk me - it was all the others that came before (about grammar, background, class, etc ad nauseam) and then yours.

People tend to write as they speak and this is where the confusion creeps in. But let's move on from that - this was the point of my post.

It's tiresome seeing people post time and again that they suspect he isn't who he says he is when the verification has been made.

Can we rather focus on piecing together what his hypothesis must have been or any other workable theories of our own. Surely that's the point of this forum - analysis of possibilities that will help solve the mystery?

Jane Tanner says she spotted a man carrying a girl, walking towards Murat's place, while Mr Smith says he spotted Gerry, carrying a girl, heading toward the beach. Was Tanner's statement a decoy to draw attention away from Gerry's activities? After all Gerry would have known he'd been spotted by the Smith family.

And did Gerry have time to head towards the beach and then circle back to Murat's place and get over the wall into Murat's garden? Or did an accomplice take over from him somewhere (explaining the deleted phone calls) or assist him in getting over that wall?

Did an accomplice bring a car to carry her away in?
Was the accomplice waiting somewhere in the direction of the beach to assist?

What would we do if we had to get a body out of an apartment (heaven forbid)? One man couldn't get over the wall on his own - carrying a child and a spade.

What are your thoughts?

Help me here people
....Am I meant to be believe that these sentences are from a professional property estate developer & the very same Stephen Birch as in his TV/Radio interviews? or from a teenager who has had no experience in professional business or converse?

Piecing together the hypothesis

Post by Gizmosgirl on 14.07.12 18:03

I forgot to add the 2 other things that puzzle me and could relate to an accomplice and Birch's/van Wyk's theories:

This mystery British businessman - initials mentioned previously in posts - could he have been the man reported to the police by several people, including a school girl and an elderly couple, to have been intently watching the McCann apartment?
His description doesn't fit entirely with something I read recently about the businessman having a beard etc.

Where does this mystery businessman fit into substantiated fact? I keep seeing mention of his initials in Portuguese news articles. But what basis do we have to know he exists? I must have missed the beginning of that story/rumour.

In the police files there is a person with that same initials. He was on holiday at the OC at the same time. According to Birch he was a surfer friend of GM. And also according to Birch he looks like the person on the photofit of bundleman.

You have not answered my question. You claim to "have a degree in English literature, have been an editor for several years"....so in your professional opinion and experience, do you think the sentences the Stephen Birch writes on here, is the same person as in the TV/radio interviews who speaks professional and nothing like "Jill is hot" etc etc

Tanner vs Smith?

Post by Gizmosgirl on 14.07.12 18:17

Thank you Sweetex.

Now who has greater credibility - Tanner or Smith? I tend to believe Smith, because he has no agenda and felt uncomfortable coming forward.

And I also believe the school girl and elderly couple, having watched the videos of their reconstructions about the man intently watching the apartment.

So we have a mystery man possibly assisting Gerry that night, plus a stalker. Unrelated perhaps.

Muddying the waters a bit in terms of a "spontaneous accidental death", Gerry's aggressive comment about not being on the holiday for fun - when videotaped by a friend - still bothers me.

What are your thoughts on the above?

I think the "Jill is hot" sentence was a bit weird, but some 40-something male South Africans tend to have that sense of humour. So yes, I think it's a bit off key, but authentically South African in tone. Not saying we all make jokes like that. It is a bit "off", yes, but doesn't negate his identity.
He did hint at emotional upset in his personal life, so perhaps the man is advertising that he's single and looking?

A lot of businessmen all over the world write badly although they speak professionally.

Now can we move on?

Well I disagree with you on this. He is making serious claims in a serious worldwide known child disappearnce case, and nobody putting themselves into the limelight would write 'lol, hahaha, Jill is hot' etc. He would write as he speaks in his interviews which is intellectual & professionally. He writes on this forum (only) like he has had a personality transplant (assuming it is the real SB). It doesn't add up to me in the slightest

And your English is bad - nobody "speaks professional" as you wrote. They speak professionally.
