Manchester Legal Awards

Post by Gillyspot on 02.03.12 8:18

Manchester's leading lawyers are today celebrating their success at a glittering awards ceremony in the city last night.

The outstanding achievement accolade went to Edward Smethurst. Mr Smethurst, who has acted on behalf of Kate and Gerry McCann, parents of missing toddler Madeleine, is chairman of the Law Society Commerce and Industry Group North West. In 2010 he helped set up and became chairman and legal director of Prosperity International Sports Management and Palladium Associates, which provides private investigation and risk management services to major PLCs. He is also a successful property developer."

All I can say is if Smethurst got the "outstandng achievement accolade" then the bar wasn't set very high. Smethurst of course was "leading" the search for Madeleine in November 2007 (the searchers being Metado3)

"Mr Smethurst is also running a team of private investigators who are tracking Madeleine's disappearance throughout Spain and Portugal."

Usual thing - all in the same club and giving each other gongs.

I see that TB's amusing story about Palladium is now gone along with the rest of the topic - it was simply copied from a newspaper article about Palladium being taken to court by a client.

Well worth a read, especially Daisy's post.
