Buyer sought for Everest

December 18, 2011 A buyer is being sought for the iconic Everest double glazing company controlled by Cheshire businessman and Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy, according to reports. Corporate finance firm Clearwater is said to have been appointed to find a new backer for the home improvements company, bought by Mr Kennedy from Caradon in 1999. Mr Kennedy, who lives in Cheshire, is a 42 per cent shareholder in Everest's ultimate parent company, Home Improvement Group Holdings. It is suggested that a deal could value the group at between £50m and £100m. Nobody at Everest, which has its headquarters in Hertfordshire, was available for comment.

During a financial squeeze people stop building houses, and replacing windows and kitchens.
Hard times ?

What's the betting the 58% want the 42% shareholder to leave, for fear of a future prosecution dragging the long established company name down.

Oh dear, it's not looking good...
