hidden Madeleine’s body, then moved it later, in the car, and buried it
elsewhere.”
Strange choice of words that, "buried it elsewhere"
Sounds to me like "it" had been buried previously.

I have always read that as not buried on the night, but buried later somewhere else.

Hi Frank Zappa. Moved and buried "it" not her. We have very recently lost a beloved dog and had her cremated, we don't refer to her as it, we refer to her by name.

Typical use of word when lying..Distence her self from what really happend by calling her IT instead of her...
