Jacqui Smith, porno videos, painting by prisoners, and the McCann case

Post by Tony Bennett on 24.08.11 20:04

Jacqui Smith was made Home Secretary on 28 June 2007, 56 days after Madeleine McCann was reported missing.

The very same day - 28 June - Dr Gerald McCann came out with this statement:

I have no doubt we will be able to sustain a high profile for Madeleine’s disappearance in the long-term”.

It may be remembered that Jacqui Smith used her taxpayer-funded MPs allowances to buy porno videos for her husband to watch.

Now she gets prisoners to paint her home for free (with a small donantion):

Jacqui Smith was the Home Secretary who held up the Rogatory Interviews for ages and generally frustrated the Portuguese investigation into Madeleine's disappearance.

By such people we are being governed

Absolutely shocking.

You would think that after being exposed in the MP expenses scandal over the porn films she would be extra careful, but no, she seizes the chance to get some cheap labour for painting. Interesting to know the amount of the donation to charity (and which charity) allegedly made for the work. She seems to be in the McCann mould - make money where you can, dont answer questions fully and say the press are gunning for you. not surprising she was so supportive of the McCanns.

TB, you might want to double check that?

Far as I read, her hubby used "pay per view" to watch the adult movies and somehow the entire bill ended up for claim and JS claimed she wasn't aware of his viewing.

It was down to JS who had to submit her expenses and check this not her husband, who on earth submits a sky bill? watching tv at the tax payers expense, In my opinion she prob got her husband to take the rap, maybe she didn't want public to know she likes a bit of Ron Jeremy biggergrin

Of course it's bloody ridiculous to claim for SKY bill especially with all sorts of viewing on it without censor. But is TB correct to say she bought the videos for her husband?

well I understood what Tony meant , he Teresa's husband certainly did not purchase them with his own money so effectively as it went on her claim she 'purchased' them , by authorising and submitting her bill she should be checking her bills she submits, It also shows you on your bills when you buy add ons, She should be vigilant shes only sorry because she got caught it may not be a 'video' as such because it was not on a 'hard cassette tape' wrong term used but the same thing meant ,I know people call a 'radio' the wireless same thing meant just an older term , if someone stole your credit card and bought an item , although the thief physically 'bought' the item , it would still be deemed as 'you've paid' its purchased under your name, no criminal complaint was put forward , if that makes sense

No, thanks, such a thing as responsibility.

Post by tigger on 25.08.11 14:12

In the first place, these two have a weird marriage. She has no idea what he likes and indeed watches. Get a grip!
It was entirely her responsibility and that of her accountant to check whether e.g. a sky bill could be claimed on expenses. Loo paper as well?
Who was the one who signed papers re suspect mortgages and couldn't remember doing it? 'Because she signed so many things?'
Blairs Babes are an affront to women.

Not generally known is that Mrs. Thatcher donated all her income as prime minister to various good causes, as she already had sufficient income from her husband. It's not that I'm pro Tory, but I'm anti Labour because they always make a mess of it. TB inherited a stable economy and lotsamoney.
Well, after too long of Tony and way too long of Gordon, millions of immigrants, we don't even know which country we're living in. End of rant.

Well, dragonfly I dont dispute she paid for his viewing when she should have checked and shouldn't have claimed the bill on taxpayers.

But there was no 'VIDEOS' involved - it wasn't as if she pops round to the corner shop and purchased the videos for his viewing. She claimed for his "Pay per view" which isn't ethical so not exactly same as she had bought a tangible thing for him -- because she hadn't, she merely claimed illegally. Besides, she didn't pay it, the taxpayers did. So technically speaking, it isn't accurate to say "she bought him the videos" - at least I think not.

We all know where TB is coming from, but the last thing we need is mccanns cult followers to nit pick and stir trouble.

Re: Jacqui Smith, porno videos, painting by prisoners, and the McCann case

Post by Get'emGonçalo on 28.08.11 14:49

Disgraced former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith was embroiled in a new row last night when it was revealed her husband tried to earn money from MPs’ allowances even after she lost her seat.

Richard Timney, 48, who notoriously claimed for two pornographic movies on his wife’s expenses, has been touting for work at Westminster for the consultancy firm he set up with David Cartwright, 54, who was jailed for fraud in 2009.
Just two months after Ms Smith, also 48, was defeated at the General Election, Mr Timney’s new firm began approaching MPs for work. House of Commons records reveal that Labour MP Teresa Pearce paid the consultancy £550 from her allowances to carry out an ‘audit’ of charities in her Erith and Thamesmead constituency.

Ms Pearce confirmed she used Mr Timney’s company but said she did not know who he was.
Mr Timney declined to comment on whether it was appropriate for him to be seeking to benefit from MPs’ expenses after the previous controversies he and his wife were involved in.
It is the latest in a series of embarrassing revelations for Miss Smith, 48, who was investigated by Parliament’s sleaze watchdog after pocketing £116,000 over seven years after claiming second-home expenses.
Earlier this year she was ridiculed after making a documentary on pornography for BBC radio.
And this week it was revealed that the former minister used two day-release prisoners to decorate her £450,000 home – in return for donating plants to charity.
Prison bosses are investigating how the convicts ended up painting a room at the imposing detached property when they were meant to be improving parks and clearing litter from streams as part of a charity’s ‘resettlement to work’ programme.

Encouraging ex-convicts to earn black money - and she was Home Secretary - oh the irony!

I never liked the Smith woman and now she gets regular tv slots on the press review shows and This Week show on after question time.  I cannot understand how the producers of these shows think we are going to take any notice of what she thinks.

At the time of the expenses scandal her husband, I believe, was also working as her assistant in her office for a salary of around £40 k.   Coining it in and still getting the taxpayer to pay for his filth.

Yuk.

She also made a documentary for the BBC about porn after she lost her seat at the general election.

Quite why the BBC felt we needed to hear about the porn trade from a former Government Minister who had held a very senior position I do not know?

These people do not seem to have any shame.

I don't know what her children must have made of all this?

If there were no free press in the UK, how would the vast majority "truly know", that this may even have happened?

They could not, possibly, have the resources themselves, to determine that.

IMO leveson was there, in an attempt to try, and make sure, that those resources would be severely restricted, in the future, by trying to reduce what the press could print..

Some people, who, for some reason, believe that they have an authority, clearly, have something to hide.

Who?What?Where?
