Suffolk: Former Pc faces child porn charges

Thursday, May 26, 2011

A FORMER Suffolk police constable is due to appear in court accused of making and possessing child pornography while still a serving officer.

Ian Reynolds is facing more than 20 allegations after being charged following a two-month investigation by colleagues from Suffolk Constabulary.

The 44-year-old is understood to have been based in Horringer, near Bury St Edmunds, at the time of his arrest.

Reynolds worked as an emergency response officer when he was taken into custody by officers from Suffolk’s professional standards department.

He was detained after an internal investigation team went to his home with a warrant giving them the power to search the premises.

Police have not revealed his specific address, but have said Reynolds lives in Thetford.

It is understood that Reynolds was arrested as part of an inquiry that began in the West Country.

Suffolk police were involved after Gloucestershire Constabulary contacted them.

The Gloucestershire investigation is understood to involve pornographic images of children found on a website.

Reynolds was arrested in March and questioned by police before being released on bail pending further inquiries.

He was charged when he answered bail on Wednesday.

Reynolds is due to appear before Norwich magistrates for the first hearing of his case on Friday next week.

Nishan Wijeratne, a spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary, said: “A former Suffolk police officer, who lives in Norfolk, will be appearing in court next month in connection with child sex offences.

“In March, officers from Suffolk Constabulary’s professional standards
department executed a search warrant at an address in Thetford and seized computer equipment.

“On Wednesday March 23, Ian Reynolds was arrested and has now been charged with 22 counts of making and possessing illicit images of children.

“The 44-year-old, who resigned from Suffolk police in May, has been released on police bail prior to appearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 3.”

Why on earth does this need to be brought to the attention of any McCann supporters in Suffolk?

The moral of this post is that if you are going to hound "disgraced" former police officers you may wish to look no further than your own backyard.

If Suffolk McCann supporters are going to question an ex cop and convicted perjurer's book. Why would they need to focus on any other cop? It isn't about bad cops, it's about anyone damaging the search for Madeleine without any proof to do such a thing.

It's all about Madeleine, nothing else. Anything that damages the search for Madeleine must be questioned.

There is no proof of death no matter how you promote what is known. Therefore, mo matter what anyone believes, hope for Madeleine exists.

Madeleine comes first and that includes positive motivation and hope. That is justice based on the facts in the files at this point in time.

It
isn't about bad cops, it's about anyone damaging the search for
Madeleine without any proof to do such a thing.

If as you say, its isn't about 'bad cops' how can you falsely assume that Goncal Amaral is the only ex-cop that may be damaging the search for Madeleine? I refer to you to the following extract from a NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) publication SCC:-
Child still missing - these are by far the most difficult, frustrating, and emotionally draining child-abduction cases for law enforcement. Because the child is still missing, it is hard to identify the motivation with any degree of certainty. Without reliable witnesses, it may be hard to know that the child was even abducted..........

In a highly emotional case like a long-term child abduction, even experienced investigators can become gullible “believers” of almost anything. The emotion of these cases also causes some investigators to develop their own theories about the abduction and refuse to change them when the evidence indicates otherwise.
