Kate's book has sold three more pre-orders today, nearly 380 so far

Post by Tony Bennett on 28.04.11 20:28

Yes, 14 days to go to the launch, no book signings, and the book already slashed to half price in a vain attempt to sell this book.

Mind you, it's perked up to 523rd in Amazon's best-seller list.

The money from what few sales there will be is likley to be used to pay Dave Edgar, of the non-existent 'Alpha Investigations Group, to carry on...

* looking for prison lairs near Praia da Luz

* searching for a tipsy gypsy gang leader who was named by a dying paedophile in a letter which his estranged son burnt

* checking out reports of Madeleine walking behind a 'scary man' in Dubai

* watching out for Aussie-speaking Victoria Beckham-lookalikes

* seeing if anyone, after four years, can recognise yellow T-shirt man, a.k.a. 'Spotty Man', a.k.a. 'pock-marked face man'.

P.S. Many more copies of '50 FACTS' have been distributed than advance copies of Dr Kate's book sold on Amazon.

I am quite disappointed with Gerry, he came across as some sort of marketing expert but somehow he seems to have lost the plot where this book is concerned.

I bet if they answered the 163 questions or if the book was indeed "very truthful" sales would escalate

And where is the Sun? weren`t they supposed to serialise parts of the book in the run up to the publication date?

True, sales would rocket, but every silver lining has a cloud.

That 'cloud' might come in the form of a 6am knock at the door from Inspector Knacker of the Yard.

Yes. Knacker of the Yard can afford to wait until 6am.

The McCanns have waited 4 years. 4F****** YEARS !!!!!! to tell the truth in their book.
They say the book can help her be found alive and well and unharmed and... [pause to vomit]
but they are not going to release it for yet another 2 weeks, on top of the 4 YEARS they have waited so far, to tell their "version of the truth"
id est, et sequitur - They don't want her to be found for another two weeks.
Or perhaps they know .....

But with her eye defect being known around the globe which school could the paedophile have possibly let her go to? Maybe Maddie can't even read while she's been held captive in the secret lair in the lawless village in PdL which the private dicks have never searched?

Maybe the paedo will read the book to her as a bed time story while he rubs her tummy, tucks her up with her pink comfort blanket and tells her how brave she's being and how he just loves those tuppence worths?

It is also likely to result in a lucrative newspaper serialisation deal.

Not definite just likely!

Remember this is who is largely writing the book:

They claim that Madeleine is in Portugal, Dubai, Morrocco any many other non English speaking countries. if Kate wants her to read the book she needs to get it translated into whatever language she believes that Madeleine has learnt to read in. She should also remember that Madeleine is barely 8 years old, so has she made sure that the book is written in a way that is suitable for an 8 year old?

The McCann's mouthpiece will have difficult days ahead...

I predict with more than a fair degree of confidence that Mrs McCanns forthcoming book will be a commercial disaster for all involved. Notwithstanding the financial implications I think it will also bring disaster upon them. Playing with fire immediately comes to mind so does the opening of pandora's box. They can't help themselves and as narcissistic as they are they are compelled to return to the scene of May 2007. This will likely precipiate the re-opening of the investigation that will hopefully produce an outcome. If that outcome is what many people suspect and it is proven that they have conconted the aduction theory thereby perverting the course of justice then hell hath a place for them that not even Shipman will be allowed t visit.

Explain that one away Mr Mitchell!

AT this rate, there is a real chance it will become a tenner for 20 books, effectively half-price at pound land then it's reduced to waste paper really.

Maybe suitable to tear off pages and bring along when walking the dog!

Perhaps we should start a forum for suggestions to Clarence Mitchell about what he can say when asked about the sale of the book next week.
Something along the lines of
"We always knew it would not sell very well in the first few days because of the disgraceful spoiling action by the Palace"
or
"We are hopeful that international sales will bring the numbers up as people across the world realise that there is another version of the truth about Maddie."
or what. He is really going to earn his keep this week.

Have book sales turned the corner?

Post by Tony Bennett on 02.05.11 21:28

@The Rooster wrote:The McCann's mouthpiece will have difficult days ahead...

I predict with more than a fair degree of confidence that Mrs McCanns forthcoming book will be a commercial disaster for all involved.
But...wait!

Have book sales of Kate McCann's book turned the corner?

Let's examine the facts dispassionately.

* A brilliant marketing strategy, to rival one of the most ingenious marketing ploys ever devised, using one's daughter's own eye defect to increase donations at risk to her very life, has been devised, the sort often used to shift unsold stock. Slash it to half price!

* Another brilliant move was not to do any book signings, because of realistic threats by hate groups that she could be physically attacked. Thus raising public sympathy for her to new heights!

* So far, pre-orders have only exceeded 20 copies on three days - April 16, 17 and 18.

* But in the last three days in a row, on each of them, book sales have also exceeded 20.

* That now makes six days in all when more than 20 copies of the book have been pre-ordered!

* These extraordinary sales in the past three days means that pre-orders have spectacularly soared beyond the 400 mark - and could reach 500 before long!

* These massive sales have caused the book to surge into the Top 100 books on Amazon - already reaching 88th!!

Have sales turned the corner?

There's no room for doubt.

Is there?

P.S. Who won that 'bididng war' between Oprah Winfrey and Piers Morgan?

He could suggest the McCanns were always best in Over The Counter activity, just like the stuff they use to keep their kids from crying at night.

Brrr! Someb... I say, somebody close the door. I feel a draft.

Post by The Rooster on 03.05.11 12:20

The Independant Tuesday 3rd May

Any other reasons for writing the book?

It also allows Kate McCann to tell her story, after the couple accepted £500,000 in damages from Express Newspapers Group in 2008 for a number of defamatory articles surrounding the case. They are also fighting a legal battle against a former detective, Goncalo Amaral, whose own book, Maddie - The Truth of the Lie, alleges that Madeleine died in the apartment and her parents faked the abduction, an allegation that the McCanns strongly denied. In October the Lisbon appeal court overturned an injunction gained by the McCanns banning the publication of the work.

I must say I far prefer the style of writing in the Independent than that of the Telegraph. People can read this type of journalism and make an informed opinion. There will be a cold wind blowing over the village of Rothley... and the McCanns and their mouthpiece will catch a cold. I say...AaaaChooooo!! Pardon me.

Bye the way how are the book sales going?

576 advance orders - in less than 2 months

Post by Tony Bennett on 03.05.11 18:42

More good news for the McCanns.

The book has sold 30 more pre-orders today already and sales have smashed through the 500 mark to 576!

That's an impressive average of 12 per day since Amazon put it on pre-order!

It even reached 64th in the Amazon best-seller charts earlier today!

30 pre-orders is interesting because that seems to be the default maximum that can be selected from the "pick list".

I wonder if someone has been attempting to buy in bulk today?

The pick-list now defaults to 5 books as the maximum for "Madeleine".

I genuinely do not know the answer to this.
If I order, in bulk or otherwise, I believe I can then go onto "My Account" and cancel ?
If I do, how does the counting widget cope with that. Does it still show it as ordered, or does it subtract them again. And if so, how long does it take to correct it.
