The old plot, as summarised (word-for-word) on Wikipedia:

An Emperor who cares for nothing but his wardrobe hires two weavers who promise him the finest suit of clothes from a fabric invisible to anyone who is unfit for his position or ‘just hopelessly stupid’. The Emperor cannot see the cloth himself, but pretends that he can for fear of appearing unfit for his position or stupid; his ministers do the same. When the swindlers report that the suit is finished, they dress him in mime and the Emperor then marches in procession before his subjects. A child in the crowd calls out that the Emperor is wearing nothing at all and the cry is taken up by others. The Emperor cringes, suspecting the assertion is true, but holds himself up proudly and continues the procession.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The new version:

The British media, who care for nothing but profits, come across two Doctors who weave a story about a missing child, promising to present the media with the most credible abductor the world has ever heard about and rising circulation figures. They say that anyone who doubts the abduction tale would be considered unfit for his position or ‘just hopelessly stupid’. The British media can see no evidence of an abductor, but pretend that they can for fear of appearing unfit for their position or stupid. Their journalists, paid solely to do what they are told, do the same. When the Doctors unfold the full story, telling tales of a swarthy abductor, they weave a fantastic story by using smoke and mirrors, tales of ‘sightings’ of the missing child and of 16 abductors and abductresses. The Britsh media parade their story to millions of readers. A detetctive calls out that there is no abductor at all and the cry is taken up by others. The British media cringe, suspecting the assertion is true, but in pursuit of profits carry on proudly and continue the procession of Mitchell-inspired tales.

TB

Thank you for this new version of an old tale by my favourite author as a child, Hans Christian Andersen.

It's true and I think you have put your finger on the problem I have long tried to figure out.

Why no one can see the Truth. Unless of course, it is us who are wearing sunglasses and cant see what others are seeing.

The Case files are now published for all to see - the discrepancies are there - the exposure of the inconsistencies is there - but nothing happens. It's almost as though we are in a parallel universe for all the good the protesting we do - it has no effect at all.
