Re- James and Charlotte Gorrod

Post by sijm on 27.05.12 16:46

Hmm I think I may have found the James Gorrod & Russell O Brian link.

When a young man Ralph Eveleight left the shores of the UK with his friend and his Mother, Ralph's intention was to set up a surfing club with his friend, I believe this surfing club may have its roots in Lagos, not far from where the Evelieghts live.

Apparently Jim Gorrod solicitor for Foot Ansteys, Exeter, says, he spent his whole life overlooking the sea and began sailing at 5 and most of his spare time from then in a boat, he is also a member of SAS (Surfers Against Sewage org) an environmental charity protecting UK's OCEAN WAVES.

One Guy in the same club Dr Tony Butt has a PHD in OCEANOGRAPHY and lives most of the time on North coast in Spain and makes one long haul journey to Capetown, South Africa each year to spend the Southern winter there, so they appear to be an International club.

Russell O Brian is a specialist in OCEANOGRAPHY and lives not far from Jim Gorrod.

There appears to be at least 4 links between these men,1. All had close links to McCanns, 2.Surfing which they share a link to Murat's family, 3. Short living distance of each other in UK, 4. All in close proximity to the McCann family when Maddie disappeared.

Forgot to add Jim Gorrod says he is a qualified sailing instructor.

Didn't Matt Oldfield and Russell O Brian go sailing together on last but one day of the Ocean Club Holiday, wonder who else went with them?

Gorrod Info can be found on Surfers Against Sewage web site.

This is a great find sijm thumbsup

Do you have any links for jim Garrod/Foot Ansteys as I can only find Jo Garrod (maybe a relation?). Foot Ansteys specialise in helping charities

Yes in some of the statements they talk about this particular sailing trip and there is a photo of them two in the PJ files. This info certainly establishes a strong link between Eveleigh/murat/garrods/obrien

And this......

http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/maddie/532112/The-Exeter-connection-Robert-Murat-Maddie.html?print=yes

1. Yes you have to show ALL passengers on a flight even babies on laps are head counted. Also separate passports for babies were issued by this time, so EasyJet would have shown them.
2. This is the payment for the trip so they would have had to have shown the 2 year old because from the age of 2 a child is allocated a seat.
3. Another strange thing for a supposed family of 3 (a 2 year old included) there is no baggage booked in and I thought with Easy jet you have to pre book your baggage - surely you would need more than a rucksack worth each if you have a little one travelling with you for a weeks holiday?

4. If your friends and neighbours are on holiday at the same resort at the same time and all of these guys are so 'in to each other' why wouldn't the OBs have said 'hey why don't you come and dine with us' at least once?

5. If you don't book your child on this flight then how did he get their? If he is on a different booking (doubt it) they would have had to pay extra, so where is it? And if their son wasn't there then who was the car seat for?

I really wish all these coincidences had been made more of by the media/profilers/authors who have the power to put it "out there". If the general public were more aware of this sort of material there would be a better chance of someone coming forward with important information IMO.

Ooooohh Smokeandmirrors, that would never do. Just drip feed anything that supports what the McCanns say happened.

Hello sijm,
Thanks for super info, but where did you get the info that Russell O'Brien is a specialist in oceanography. I can only find a James O'brien, who is into oceanography but he dates back too far I think. Oddly though Russell's middle name is James, so I'm not sure about this.

Re: James and Charlotte Gorrod

Post by bobbin on 27.05.12 21:10

I've also just found this on the Anorak site.
"James Gorrod Is Today’s Madeleine McCann ‘Suspect’

THERE
is no little skill in making something look easy. We speak, of course,
of the Express’s editor who leads with the quotidian headline
“MADELEINE”.

Easy enough to do, you say. But the Sun often can only manage “Maddy”, the Mirror “Maddie”.

And the editor still has to think of a reason for the headline being
there at the expense of other news stories, like “Ziggy’s secret sex
pics” (Star), “heroin addict Amy in rehab” (Mirror) and “True hero”
(Sun), the story of father-of-three Garry Newlove, beaten to death on
his doorstep by a gang of yobs.

As the Express’s TV advert says, the paper’s readers stand for good
manners, traditional values and do not stand in the way of progress.

Madeleine on the cover smacks of tradition. Good manners, indeed, in
allowing lawyer James Gorrod to defend himself. This is progress.

Today’s speculation
Gorrod rented a blue Opel Corsa in Portugal five says before
Madeleine McCann went missing. He returned the car on May 6. Staff at
the rental centre were shocked to see that the car was fitted with a
child seat. They believed Gorrod was travelling alone.

They called the police.

Says Gorrod: “A British police officer directly liaising with the
Portuguese investigation team recently contacted me to eliminate the
vehicle I hired with my wife and two-year-son in Praia da Luz at the
same time Madeleine McCann disappeared. The vehicle has been identified
and I have been told by the British police officer that he has no plans
to interview me or my family, and he does not expect me or my family to
have any further involvement in the investigation. We are, of course,
deeply saddened by Madeleine’s disappearance and hope for her safe
return.”

That’s that, then. But the Express wants us to know that it has been
“discovered” that Mr Gorrod has “close links” with friends who were on
holiday with Kate and Gerry McCann.

“British lawyer quizzed by Madeleine police on the ‘Exeter connection’,” says the Express.

The Gorrods live in Exeter, Devon, close to Dr Russell O’Brien and Jane Tanner, witnesses in the investigation who have pointed the finger at Robert Murat. The Gorrods are believed to have been staying in the same resort as their friends and the McCanns.

The Express reminds us that Robert Murat was in Exeter 10 days before Madeleine vanished.

And… And nothing. That’s it. The paper invites readers to draw their own conclusions.

And start again tomorrow…"

Just reading through one of the links on this thread and TB says that the Gorrods flew out on the same flight as the McCanns.

This may have been a mistake, I always thought the McCanns flew from East Midlands on a morning flight

The other 2 members of the Tapas flew from I believe London Gatwick on another early morning flight, earlier than the McCanns as they arrived before them.

Why then would the Gorrods fly from Bristol on such a late flight they wouldn't have arrived in the resort with a 2 year old till at least midnight so why not travel on the same flight as the Paynes and make it easier on your 2 year old (who wasn't even booked on the flight!!) they must have chatted to their 'good friends' the Paynes about where they were flying from OR why did the Paynes who live right by the Gorrods drive up to London to fly from there when they could have gone from Bristol albeit a late flight?

Yes the McCanns flew from East Midlands on a morning flight together with david payne, fiona payne, diane webster and the kids

The rest of the Tapas 9 I believe flew from Gatwick, which probably had charlotte pennington on the same flight as she flew in on the 28th April and was living in Kingston at the time (matt oldfield was working at Kingston Hospital too). charlotte pennington was also living in the very same town as kate mccann in New Zealand back in 1997 and seems to have been working as charlotte the fairy in the same hospital around the same time as kate mccann....just another remarkable coincidence smilie

The Gorrods paid for their holiday on 28th March according to the booking form. I wonder if this was the same time david payne paid for their part of the holiday too?

It feels like there is a cult or something going on here. Maybe it is just coincidences but there are so many.

You can see why the swinger theory was born.

In my mind these people have to be connected by something, I don't know why but I feel that DP is at the top if there is something.

Just a load of disparate questions.

Apparently a woman, Jane Tanner? was witnessed, around the car park area, in a purple dress earlier on in the evening of 3rd May. I can't remember whose witness statement that was.

The Gorrod's had a car with a car seat in it for their (18 month old) son who is not mentioned on their flight details.

The car rental people are surprised there is a child seat in it when the car is returned. Who put that seat in there? Was it not the rental company? Who paid for it if it wasn't the company?

Mrs. G is around 7.5 months pregnant at this time, her second child was born late July, apparently this was the last time she could fly until her baby is born.

Jane Tanner phones Gorrod's at 20.30. Did the Gorrod's go to the Tapas bar that evening to meet them, since they are friends. Was their child with them?

Kate shouts out later, "They've taken her". Who Kate? who has taken her?

This doesn't explain the dogs detecting cadavour some weeks later, in the boot of the hire car Kate and Gerry hired. Who had hired it before.

Where did the Gorrods hire their car from?

If the Gorrods did go sailing with the others I wonder if the hired a boat or if they have further 'friends' out there with a sail boat. Be interesting to see where it was moored etc.

In this report on Gorrod it says this re the flight booking...

Having gone to the counter of the Easyjet (Portway) airline in Faro airport it was confirmed that the
referenced person arrived in Faro on 28 JULY ??? [April] 2007 at 20h00 on the flight from Bristol,
being accompanied by Charlotte G.
and according to the reservations also by a child whose
identity is not known because it is not recorded on the reservation.

It does go on to say :-
"Having gone to the counter of the

28 JULY ??? [April] 2007 at 20h00 on

The referenced people returned on
the flight of 6 May, destination
Bristol, and left at 10h25.
The document/receipt relating to
both flights were furnished and are
attached to this document.
Pages 2729 to 2737: Documents from
SIXT and Easyjet.
"

Are the 'referenced people' Mr and Mrs G. re the return flight. Was the son there with them, did he go to creche at all. Why would the child's identity not be known? Surely if it were their son, they would have said so. Very strange.

Again, I will say it is surely not possible for a flight to take off if there is an incorrect head count. The passenger list would have shown that the Gorrods had a child with them even if he was just under 2 at the time of flying and therefore sitting on his parents lap instead of actually having his own allocated seat. The Head Cabin Crew will refer to the passenger list count, do a head count and as long as this tallies with the list then all is clear and the doors can be closed. Often the head count is re done because children on laps get 'missed' in the counting. This is why you are left sitting on the runway having missed your slot to take off when people are late boarding the plane. It is illegal for a flight to take off without the checked in passengers or even to take off with someones baggage on board of they do not make the flight perhaps having been taken ill prior to departure etc.
( I know they will get round the baggage issue occasionally but that of headcounts is paramount)

As for the booking sheets in the above link 2 very strange things occur.

1. The address of the car booking does not match that of the flight booking, the car booking is an address for apartments in London the flight booking is a house in Exeter. (OK they may own 2 properties nothing weird there but surely one of the addresses has to tally with the driving licence)

2. The Gorrods mileage is rather high for a family holiday. It started at 23,105 and was returned at 23,979. That means during one week they travelled 874 km. It is 200 km approx from Faro to Luz return, therefore, if my maths are correct they clocked up a further 674 km in 5 days.

Obviously that is why their son (if he was there) didn't go to the creche - he was being taken on 100+ km journeys every day!!!

This is interesting, I have just been reading through some previous threads about the tapas bunch and found something I have not seen before.

A statement from the receptionist at the OC who claims a rather pushy and insistent man block booked the tapas table for the group.

The tapas group deny Russells involvement in this and Rachels name is used as the person who did make the bookings even though no one including her can remember when exactly she made the block booking!!!! Now there's a surprise!

The receptionist says that the man who made the booking was holding Madeleine and was tall and thin!! - and she insists it was definately not GM (who isn't tall and thin anyway!)

If you take a look at the pictures in the link at the very start of this thread you can scroll down to the picture of Mr Gorrod ....... certainly not short and fat.

And if he disappeared quite sharpish from PDL early on into the holiday it would explain why she could subsequently not identify him.

Hi Hummingbird, I agree with your head count post. I have done many too and from the UK flights to Spain and have seen very small babies included in the headcount. And I have quietly thought to myself, if this plane crashes they need to know how many heads, ie people, even if some of those heads are very small sad

Yes (used to be cabin crew for a very short time it made me ill hahaha ear problems, anyway had to do the training so know a little of the rules)

They have to know how many tiny ones there are on board because there has to be enough baby cot life rafts! Even pets have to be accounted for - you know some people take pets abroad on flights in the hold but they aren't just put on without any documentation, neither is baggage, pushchairs etc etc because it is all down to who it belongs too, security and weight!

The airline would be able to provide this information from their records on who exactly were on this plane, and the other plane with the mccanns. The PJ must have this information but have not released it with the PJ files. The airports would have CCTV as well around the boarding areas and customs which would very interesting to see who was there with whom

Clearly they were there for other reasons and one which may have caused robert murat to make his dash back. Yes why wasn't their son in creche, or why didn't the Gorrods ever seem to use the Millennium or Tapas, and disappear for a day and a half after landing in Faro....all very suspicious to me

Yes and that is why I am convinced the PJ have far more info than they are letting on to having! I don't think they know what exactly happened to Madeleine or exactly who took her but I think they know that there were more people there than we have been told about and these 2 make it a nice number 11 as suggested elsewhere!!!j

The wife was 7.5 months pregnant. The most innocent explanation could be that they were just sightseeing. If so what sort of a holiday was it for the kid unless they went to other beaches, on the west coast for instance, to make sandcastles (and to get away from the boring, stay-put, go nowhere, do nothing tapas bunch). Still most peculiar that the child is not registered on airplane.

Sorry ft I have stared at this till my eyes are watering where does it clearly show there were 3 passengers? I can't see it! Perhaps I should have gone to Specsavers!

It says passenger 1 Gorrod James passenger 2 Gorrod Charlotte

Total for 2 passengers ..... the misc cost of 45.00 must be for airport taxes as they booked no luggage onto this flight either, and that would explain why they could get from the terminal through passport control through the airport and arrive at the car check in 6 minutes after they were due to land. I've heard of planes landing early but then you are rarely met straight away by the ground staff to open doors and take paperwork so you generally take just as long to get off and collect your luggage unless you don't have any so you can walk straight thru. So again, I ask why no luggage for a weeks holiday with a 2 year old!! Surely they would at least have had a pushchair?
