There was a funny article the other day from a woman who wanted a pond cleaned, and instead of putting "Woman WITH waders" into google, put "Women IN Waders".
Her husband found her with the screen open !
In that case it was relatively harmless and quite funny, but it is easy to do, and once the keystrokes have been made and the screen has opened it is there for all time on our hard disc.

I think this CATS number is a dead end. Whether the file ever contained anything or has been emptied is only speculation now. I can't see anything coming of this, however it would be nice for somebody in authority to explain it.

This morning while reading a topic or two on this forum I read that there is CATS file for GM (#19309). I also read on a different topic that there is an empty CATS file for KM (#19309). First time I realized that GM and KM both share a CATS file #19309. If what I've read is true, does that imply that this was a file #19309 assigned to both parents regarding MM disappearance (that is what makes sense)? Since it is empty I'm guessing that means when CATS spoke to the parents regarding MM disappearance it was determined at that time that no further action was necessary...
More important, it got me to wondering if DPayne has a CATS file but when I tried to look up here on the forum I did not see reference to a CATS file for him or not. Can anyone here answer or point me in the right direction regard any info on a possible CATS for DP?

I had restrictions on my browser coz of grandkids and it wouldn't let me look for info on my cockatiels

What exactly is a CATS file? I have an idea just from reading on here but am not 100% sure how you can have an empty one
but it mean nothing? In that case surely we all might have one?

Yes I have always wondered that. Who has the authority to 'empty' the file? And is there independent confirmation of this file?

...I'm simply bumping this thread for the benefit of members of the public Googling CAT 19309 following a recent Westminster public protest referred to on the CMoMM Facebook site. Currently Google ranks this page on its 5th page of returns and so members of the public that saw the banner (see below) and wonder what it's all about may not plough through that far. She says she's a journalist but it's clear she spends most of her life writing blogs. Does she get paid for that or is she really just an unemployed blogger?

"A police officer who gained unauthorised access to information on force computers could be facing a jail sentence.
Pc Andrew Clay (50) appeared at Leicester Crown Court to plead guilty to six charges of securing unauthorised access to computer material, between September 2002 and March 2013.

Five counts relate to seeking information about individuals and, in three of those cases it also included their family members.
The sixth offence involved seeking information about alleged sex offences in the North West Leicestershire area.
After the guilty pleas were entered, Clay’s barrister, Jonathan Cox, said: “He now intends to formally resign from the constabulary.”
Judge Simon Hammond adjourned the case, for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Clay, who lives near Ashby, where he was based, was released on bail and will be sentenced at a later date.
Judge Hammond said: “All sentencing options remain open and that includes custody.”
Clay was suspended from duty pending the court hearing.
The charges under the Misuse of Computer Act 1990 follow an investigation by the force’s anti-corruption unit.
Detective Inspector Ferguson said after the hearing: “Clay abused his position as a Leicestershire police officer in order to access confidential information for his own personal gain.
“The force takes incidents of this nature extremely seriously and, as this case demonstrates, we will thoroughly investigate any information received of employees misusing police systems.
“We regularly monitor and scrutinise the use of data and why information is being accessed to ensure it is appropriate.
“Any Leicestershire Police employee who chooses to disregard force policy risks dismissal from the force, and if a criminal offence has been committed, can expect the case to be brought before the courts.”
