KEVIN HALLIGEN - Is there an extradition hearing in Westminster Magistrates Court this Thursday?

Post  Tony Bennett on Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:55 pm

Well, it was reported, e.g. in ths link below, that Kevin Halligen was due to face an extradition hearing in the City of Westminster Magistrates Court this Thursday (18 August):

http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2010/07/kevin-halligen-mccanns-former-detective.html

But it all seems shrouded in mystery - even Joana Morais takes a guess that this extradition hearing will never take place - and certainly the press don't seem to be taking any interest.

Yet Kevin Halligen is probably one of the few outside the 'Tapas 9' who would really be able to help us know what really happened to Madeleine McCann. What an insult to the pensioners who gave their weekly pension and the children who gave their weekly pocket money to know that their cash went into the pockets of Kevin Halligen.

And what for?

What seems strange is the mccanns didnt want to do anything to recover the money, considering the guy most likely hadnt provided an honest-day job for the fee asked.

One can only think that maybe Halligen may not have received his fee in full.

I doubt a fallen guy would take on the might of mccanns knowing full well BK is behind them, not unless he's suicidal.

Hopefully when he is languishing in jail, he'll tell someone his story or pen a book with juicy bits of their scam.

Neither. He was awaiting extradition proceedings at the request of the U.S. who want him to answer to a charge of committing a $2 million fraud over there.

'EXTRADITION! - Kevin Halligen's Lament'

Post  Tony Bennett on Wed Aug 18, 2010 9:09 am

About 40 years ago, a famous musical came to London: ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, starring Topol. One of its best-loved tunes, which captured the heart of the story of the musical, was ‘Tradition’.

Now a slightly revised version of this popular song has been issued, titled:
‘Extradition - Kevin Halligen’s Lament’.

You may wish before reading the new version to listen to the old one, you can do so via this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKHTabTYl_M

Below is the original version, followed by the new version:

****************************************************************************************

(Tevye)

"A fiddler on the roof. Sounds crazy, no? But in our little village of Anatevka, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. It isn't easy. You may ask, why do we stay up there if it's so dangerous? We stay because Anatevka is our home... And how do we keep our balance? That I can tell you
in one word... Tradition."

(Chorus)
Tradition, tradition... tradition
Tradition, tradition…tradition

(Tevye)

"Because of our traditions, we've kept our balance for many, many years. Here in Anatevka we have traditions for everything... how to eat, how to sleep, even, how to wear clothes. For instance, we always keep our heads covered and always wear a little prayer shawl... This shows our constant devotion to God. You may ask, how did this tradition start? I'll tell you - I don't know. But it's a tradition... Because of our traditions, everyone knows who he is and what God expects him to do."

(Tevye & Papas)

Who day and night
Must scramble for a living
Feed the wife and children
Say his daily prayers
And who has the right
As master of the house
To have the final word at home?

(All)

The papa, the papas... tradition
The papa, the papas... tradition

(Golde & Mamas)

Who must know the way to make a proper home
A quiet home, a kosher home
Who must raise a family and run the home
So papa's free to read the holy book?

(All)

The mama, the mama... tradition
The mama, the mama... tradition

(Sons)

At three I started Hebrew school
At ten I learned a trade
I hear they picked a bride for me
I hope... she's pretty

(All)

The sons, the sons... tradition
The sons, the sons... tradition

(Daughters)

And who does mama teach
To mend and tend and fix
Preparing me to marry
Whoever papa picks?

(All)

The daughters, the daughters... tradition

(Tevye)

"I have five daughters!"

(All)

The daughters, the daughters... tradition

(Repeat as round)

(Papas)

(Yente)

"Avram, I have a perfect match for your son. A wonderful girl."

(Avram)

"Who is it?"

(Yente)

"Ruchel, the shoemaker's daughter."

(Avram)

"Ruchel? But she can hardly see. She's almost blind."

(Yente)

"Tell the truth, Avram, is your son so much to look at? The way she sees and the way he
looks, it's a perfect match."

(Tevye)

"And Nahum, the beggar..."

(Beggar)

"Alms for the poor, alms for the poor..."

(Lazar)

"Here, Reb Nahum, is one kopek."

(Beggar)

"One kopek? Last week you geve me two kopeks."

(Lazar)

"I had a bad week."

(Beggar)

"So, if you had a bad week, why should I suffer?"

(Tevye)

"And most important, our beloved Rabbi..."

(Mendel)

"Rabbi, may I ask you a question?"

(Rabbi)

"Certainly, my son."

(Mendel)

"Is there a proper blessing for the Tsar?"

(Rabbi)

"A blessing for the tsar? Of course. May God bless and keep the Tsar... far away from us!"

(Tevye)

"And among ourselves, we get along perfectly well. Of course, there was the time when he sold him a horse, but delivered a mule, but that's all settled now. Now we live in simple peace and harmony and..."

(1st Man)

"It was a horse."

(2nd Man)

"It was a mule."

(Chorus)

Horse!
Mule!
Horse!

(Tevye)

"Tradition. Without our traditions, our lives would be as shaky as... as a fiddler on the roof!"

(Michael Caplan QC)

"A fiddler on the roof. Sounds crazy, no? But in our little suburb of Richmond-upon-Thames, you might say every one of us is a fiddler on the roof, trying to scratch out a pleasant, simple tune without breaking his neck. It isn't easy. You may ask, why do we stay in our villa overlooking the Thames if it's so dangerous? We stay because Richmond-upon-Thames is our home... And how do we keep our bank balance very high…in fact, enormous? That I can tell you in one word...Extradition!"

(Chorus)

Extradition, extradition...extradition
Extradition, extradition...extradition

(Halligen)

"Because of an extradition hearing, I've been kept in Belmarsh prison for many, many months. Here in Belmarsh we have traditions for everything... when to eat, when to sleep, even, wearing prison clothes. For instance, we have 30 minutes exercise in the covered prison yard and are always searched for weapons and drugs. You may ask, how did these extradition proceedings start? I'll tell you - I don't know. Some dude in Amerca who claims I’ve ripped him off...”

(Halligen & Tapas)

Who day and night
Must scramble for 500 grand
Feed the wife and children

(Mitchell)

"Schadenfreude! I’ve had three good years on 75 grand a year! Plus expenses!!”

(Halligen)

(Mitchelli)

"Certainly, my son."

(Mendel)

That's precisely my understanding.

What I didnt know is he's been in prison while waiting for the extradition process....

I had mistakenly assumed he was on bail, which apparently wasnt the case it seems.

Another fiddled bit from the same musical

The most important men in town would come to fawn on me!
They would ask me to advise them,
Like a Solomon the Wise.
"If you please, Clarence Mitchell"
"Pardon me, Clarence Mitchell.."
Posing problems that would cross a rabbi's eyes!

If I were a rich man,
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.
All day long I'd biddy biddy bum.
If I were a wealthy man.
I wouldn't have to work hard.
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum.

Lord who made the lion and the lamb,
You decreed I should be what I am.
Would it spoil some vast eternal plan?
If I were a wealthy man?'

thinking

Television links are without doubt a most splendid idea. It has long been noticed that many male prisoners have a tendency to lose their soap, which means they are not always at their most fragrant on court dates. There are days when the smell from the dock can be quite rotten.

Is Halligen a security risk? Is somebody afraid for his safety? Is somebody afraid he will blurt something out that will be overheard by the media?
