Great news... still do not get as to why Kerry has not received the same amount or type of support that the McCann's have? Did the Needham family ever have substantial "funding" prior?

"Earlier this year, South Yorkshire Police announced that they had received extra funding from the Home Office to help in the search"

New hope in search for missing Ben Empty Re: New hope in search for missing Ben

Post by Liz Eagles 10.05.16 23:33

Snipped from article

Ben's mum Kerry gave an interview with Sky News this morning in which she said she definitely believes Ben is still alive.

She hopes people might speak out now so much time has passed, adding: "In Greece they have a statute of limitation and after a certain amount of time no one can be prosecuted for this crime, unfortunately.

"Now this timescale has lapsed and there is no fear of somebody getting into trouble for this then they might come forward.

"Also, having the British detectives to talk to, people might feel more comfortable talking to them than the Greek police."

The Yorkshire cops are expected to remain in Kos for two weeks distributing leaflets and carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

...........................

So the Daily Star says in Greece, UK police are being allowed to carry out door to door enquiries.

Meanwhile the UK media also report that in Portugal the Portuguese are assisting OG Grange.

New hope in search for missing Ben Empty Re: New hope in search for missing Ben

Post by MayMuse 11.05.16 0:55

Det Insp Jon Cousins said: "In 1993, someone contacted the missing person's helpline and specifically said that Ben was known then as Andreas and he was being cared for by a man known as Niko.
"I would like that person who spoke to the helpline to come forward and speak to us again."
Further details of the call and whether cops investigated it are unclear.

___________
So for over 20 odd years this information has been "where"?
Did the "cops" investigate or not?
Simple enough to answer?
"Niko" now could well have passed over after all this time?
But now they need him to call?
Did they not take his number or information back then?

I can hear them now?
"Sorry mate its been so long, but could you give us a quick call and remind us about "Andreas" again?"
"We are now ready to investigate Ben's disappearance you know since all the publicity on Madeleine McCann, have you heard of her? You wouldn't happen to know of her whereabouts would you? If you could just help our inquiry as we are door-knocking in Greece????? """""""
Pffft!!!  nah

Something is sadly wrong with these "missing" children cases?
___________________________________________________________________________
Update edit ...Just seen that the information was passed to "MISSING Persons" in 1993 as per this;

 Duncan Wood

BREAKING #SYP reveal mystery caller gave details to missing persons in 1993 about #BenNeedham saying his new name was andreas

Think maybe he means Missing People?
So what did they do with the information?
Not a lot by all accounts!!!

The timing is indeed odd.
Given funding going on not a fresh lead but one that was overlooked in 1993.  Why now?

DS Fenwick and up to nine other members of the “Operation Ben” team then came together around 8pm on Tuesday at a local family pizzeria to down more beer and wine.

The restaurant owner said the team downed 17 pints of beer as well as several glasses of wine before paying their 67 Euro bill.

10 off duty policemen downing an average of less than 2 pints...hardly excessive.
Question is - who told on them?
This should have been just an internal admonishing. Why does it hit the news?

This is getting stupid now that off duty policemen cannot have a few pints to unwind.

New hope in search for missing Ben Empty Re: New hope in search for missing Ben

Post by Doug D 12.05.16 18:07

Beautiful hotel, but a normal price in the region of £102 per night might be good for a London hotel, but unnecessarily excessive for Kos. Even a discounted block booking is still going to be pricey, but then I suppose Redwood & co. showed them how it should be done in Portugal.

‘Welcome to Kos Aktis Art Hotel
Since the 60’s, the Kos Xenia has been the benchmark of the island. Our dream was to revive a myth and we have succeeded. It began like this. From an idea, from a dream to do something beyond what is a truly unique destination for unique people on the beach. Exactly in the centre of Kos town and in front of the gardens of the island, lies the dominant Kos Aktis Art Hotel reminding that some legends live forever.
Just on the wave, with 36 rooms and 6 junior suites, with the amazing Η2Ο restaurant, the gym and the meeting room for 10 people, the Kos Aktis Art Hotel exceeds all expectations. Just enjoy your stay in a place that really suits you.’

Just for rough comparison, a comfortable 3 star hotel with pool etc, that we have stayed in before, the tour company are paying the owner just over £10 per night this summer and that includes an, admittedly fairly basic, breakfast.

………………………………………

A bit more than ‘just a couple of pints each’ if you read the whole story:

‘Det Supt Fenwick was seen started his drinking session at the plush beachside Atkis hotel on Kos.’

‘DS Fenwick and up to nine other members of the “Operation Ben” team then came together around 8pm on Tuesday at a local family pizzeria to down more beer and wine.’

‘The group then left on foot to walk into Kos Old Town before going for dinner.’

‘They then returned to the Amaryllis restaurant at 11.30pm for several nightcaps while watching the second half of the West Ham vs Manchester United game.’

‘His colleague, Detective Inspector Jon Cousins, who is the lead investigating officer in the new probe, was seen drinking pints of lager at the bar both times before he finally retired to the hotel at 1.24am.’

Not a story on its own as such, but presumably the thing that pee’d off the Mirror reporter, having witnessed them going a bit ‘over the top’ the night before, was sitting around waiting for them the following morning:

‘A media briefing the next morning was delayed for more than 20 minutes due to the officers "not being ready".

Unprofessional.

When they know they are in the media spotlight, they are never 'off duty' as such, but this incident probably illustrates how they feel about the actual investigation.

Who photographed the policeman eating an ice cream?  Hardly a crime is it!

They dished it out to Pt police so maybe they think they are being fair in dishing it out to Brit. police.   They gotta sell their papers some how.

It has been reported that there is a police Reward on offer of £10,000 in relation to Ben.

The reward on offer for info. in relation to Maddie is £20,000, I believe.

Always seem to be a difference doesn't there?

Was Ben abducted? Was there even any indication of that?

Any sighting of bundled man or egg face man?

Or is this going to be another wild goose chase where the sky's the limit?

Abducted, taken by gypsy, taken by childless couple all posited as theory.

Sounds familiar?

How very dare the UK MSM present the UK Police Officers as on the Lash and late for "Official Duty" the following day, such unprofessional reporting, when they should be focussed on the missing child who would now be an Adult if still alive?

Post by Liz Eagles 13.05.16 22:14

It was a bit stupid of the senior officer to disregard he would be under the full glare of the UK Press, even if he was drinking coca cola and eating fruit salad until 9pm there would be something reported, so why not do the correct thing and give the press nothing, just turn up for two weeks and do the job.

2 weeks in Kos, reports in the media to announce, high profile appearance on foreign soil of UK police officers and what do they do on first day?

I've stewed on this for two days. I've read all the comments regarding UK officers can do whatever they like in their spare time (I agree) but to be so insensitive/stupid as to think they are not under the scrutiny of the press is unbelievable. It showed a major lack of leadership and understanding of public expectation.

To turn up late for a press conference - the first press conference - on foreign soil is remarkably bad.

Yesterday I was all for 'oh give them a break', today I think they were completely out of order. They're only there for two weeks. Two weeks to do a job. Two weeks in which to not attract hostile media attention of which they are well aware is always looming.
