Philip Green and Margaret Hodge both in the news right now Empty Philip Green and Margaret Hodge both in the news right now

Post by haroldd2 03.05.16 12:54

Two billionaire-bracket types who featured in the story in 2007 are now in the current news in May 2016: Philip Green and Margaret Hodge. (Green because of how pocketed £500 million and left British Home Stores to go bust - see also here; Hodge because she is being suggested as the figure who could stab Jeremy Corbyn out of office as leader of the "opposition".)

Both have connections with tax havens: Green with Jersey and Monaco; Hodge with Liechtenstein and Panama.

A week before the EU referendum, there is going to be a special "anti-corruption" conference held in London, called by David Cameron. This is a very hairy time for the British financial elite, for the state.

Tony Bennett wrote:Below is the letter handed in to 10 Downing Street in Friday in support of the petition calling for a report on Operation Grange.
(...)

(g) The e-fits that were shown on the BBC Crimewatch programme were produced by Henri Exton, the former Head of Covert Intelligence at MI5. He had been employed by the McCanns’ leading private investigator at the time. Kevin Halligen.
Exton's Belgian connections may prove to be relevant...

Marc Dutroux has made an awful lot of money in prison, supposedly having become skilful in dealing in shares and, doubtless, I should imagine also forex and futures and derivatives and stuff. It's not easy to make an awful lot of money unless you start off with a lot of it. It's extremely difficult. To quote from the article I just linked to, "Dutroux is now said to be the richest inmate in the Nivelles prison where he is held and gets two special supermarket deliveries of luxuries to his cell every week." (A French-language report.)

Anders Breivik also made a lot of money in such financial "plays", using his small company with its footprint in a number of countries dotted around the world (Norway, Russia, Indonesia, Romania, and the US). (Source - secondary; other reports are in Norwegian; you can also read Breivik's own "manifesto".) Breivik claimed that a subsidiary was based in Antigua, but if you look into this matter, you will soon smell the unmistakeable aroma of professional-level disinformation.

How strange that these two men should have such skills.

Not much about Exton is known, but Bindmans solicitors tried to suppress mention of his MI5 background, mentioning the Official Secrets Act and a DA-Notice in their letter to Paulo Reis and others. The curious thing is that since breach of the OSA is a crime, i.e. a wrong against the state, and not at all similar to libel or breach of copyright, which are civil wrongs and suitable matters for solicitors acting for private persons to write letters about, enforcement of the OSA is supposed to be a matter for the state - for example through the Treasury Solicitor. WTF? Did Bindmans notify the TSO, or MI5's lawyer, that the OSA had been breached? Surely they must have done.

Beware the idea of "Walter Mittys". Portraying someone as a Walter Mitty is one of the known limitation strategies.

We seem to be in the murky area where spookery overlaps big-time with international crime.

Which is what I had already surmised from

1) the identity of one of the individuals who was staying in PdL at the time Madeleine "disappeared", and

2) the stated fact that Mark Warner Enterprises made no on-the-books profits for 16 years, while running luxury holidays, starting in Switzerland.

Margaret Hodge was chair of the Public Accounts Committee for nine years, helping the government get "value for money" and making sure "public money" didn't, er, go to waste. Much of her billionaire-bracket family's wealth was held using structures in Liechtenstein and Panama.

Get what I'm saying?

Meanwhile, Philip Green, who pocketed £500 million and then left BHS to go bust, much of whose  wealth is in Jersey-registered assets owned by his Monaco-resident wife, also played a crucial role "examining government spending".

These billionaire-bracket individuals had senior roles in connection with what the state spends its money on.

If we were in Russia, the word "oligarch" would be used.

Hodge's and Green's public-sector roles are very juicy if you can get them. There is a reason that these positions go to billionaire-bracket international business types who hold their money hidden offshore, rather than to individuals having more or less 9-5 workaday mundane bureaucratic CVs who live off their salaries plus maybe double or triple salary in entertainment and expenses and backhanders, but who are nowhere near the world of the billionaires.

Green "lent his private jet" to take the McCanns to see Pope Joseph Ratzinger. The Vatican Bank has large investments in Big Pharma. That is not going to be a fact of which Philip Green is unaware.

Just mentioning this stuff as background to WHY the McCann case has been considered, for several years, to be worth such a high level of involvement by the British state to develop false leads, and, well, to get to the point, to prevent the truth coming out. It can't be because a bunch of quacks, doubtless highly self-regarding and arrogant but nonetheless not exactly super-rich, went on a swinging holiday, a child died by accident, and they all made up a bunch of lies to cover themselves while helping to springboard the careers of the two parents. Big Pharma and its asset the British Medical Association wouldn't like that coming to light, sure, but that scenario doesn't explain the high-level political involvement.

Today, the Missing People website shows BHS as a supporter. Who can forget those pathetic photographs of BHS employees on the Missing People website demonstrating their support for their enforced charity effort.

I wonder how they feel today.

Still, Sir Philip Green, on his yacht, with off-shore bank accounts and a whole load of other 'love me I'm a good guy' will undoubtedly have cleared his conscience and will not give an inch (or a toss) about his dealings.

I can't even blame Sir Philip - why was he knighted? - I can only blame outright greed.

Let's hope the MPs Commitee demand he and his wife attend to answer questions.    Getting him off his 100 million pound yatch might prove difficult though.   One hundred million pound on a yatch.   UNBELIEVABLE.

This is the man that loaned his private jet to the McCanns.

Most excellent haroldd2. Always follow the money.

Jersey, where Eddie and Keela found evidence of dead children?

Marc Dutroux, child trafficker to the elite?

Just a note, but nobody can figure out how Jeffrey Epstein became a billionaire yet he's convicted of sex trafficking of underage girls. So much dirt on money is a good reason to move it off shore...

Corbyn isn't in the club.

All the Blairites are in the club or do what the club tells them anyway.

He's got the full force of the club against him and he's having to compromise (sadly) to stay politically alive - in/out EU and the supposed anti-semitism row.

All his compromising is doing is temporarily putting off the day when the club will have him out.

He needs to get rid of the club members in the Labour party or they will get rid of him.

He won't be able to.

But yes, the club.

Regarding the club, what was Philip Edmonds doing in what for him would have been a very downmarket holiday resort?

And have you looked at the history of Mark Warner Enterprises and some of the co-directorships? They made no profits for 16 years, so what were they up to, in Switzerland and elsewhere? I mentioned this in a post I made in 2013, and I still think it's important.

"Chitty and Searle are both directors of PBHH too, along with Jonathan Goldsmith and Richard Green."

That's Jonathan Michael Goldsmith. For his other directorships, click here.
