Re: In the press but no comments allowed
First of all i would imagine the Supreme Court in Portugal would have to accept the appeal put forth to them by the McCann lawyer/s for a scheduled hearing at some stage? But would they go so far as to hear this case yet again, when they had already made a decision on the Libel case against Goncalo Amaral in March of 2011 when they overturned the banning of his book and unbanned it? I would think the SC at the time of their previous decision would of taken all points of law in the case into consideration in making their judgement and got it right? It is after all a Supreme Court. I really can't see that the McCann's have a case.

I notice that the "family friend" has confirmed that the legal fees will be paid from the fund set up to find Madeleine. That won't do their public image much good...!

They did say it was a "fighting fund" at one stage didn't they?Ladyinred wrote:Confirming what we knew, that the fund was set up to pay their legal fees.

Well the 'fighting fund' is about to get a whole lot lighter when they lose yet again, meanwhile Duarte will be laughing all the way to the bank, following her failed vexatiously litigious sprint against Dr Amaral on behalf of the gruesome twosome (imo).

The article also states that the parents are worried about the continuing legal action emptying the fund of cash intended for the search.
What search? Didn't they initiate the action? Why don't they pay the legal fees with their own money, like everyone else?
They could sell their house, it's probably worth half a million.

The "family friend" doesn't have much hope that Op Grange will resolve the mystery!

The "family source" isn't holding out too much hope that the McCanns are going to win, either:
A family source told the newspaper: 'We hope the appeal will be successful. If they lose there will be a big legal bill to pay which will come from the fund set up to find Madeleine.

Yes all logical questions, but narcissists don't see things the way normal people do.
They're obviously already setting the stage for the 'poor me, no money to search due to the disgraced cop' headlines. It won't garner an ounce of sympathy however!

-----------------------------------
Didn't the McCan'ts already 'empty' the 'fund', themselves, a few months ago, BEFORE GA's appeal 'win', intended to be used for the 'search' and put the OAP/school kiddies DONATED 'fund money' in a super special 'account' to which only 'they' have 'access'?

Obviously careful censoring going on. Everyone knows the public are tired of the McCanns and they shouldn't have left three toddlers etc; but where are the comments supporting Goncalo Amaral as I'm certain there will have been many. Always an agenda.

Maybe now its actually been said TM are using the funds to sue everyone left, right and centre/legal fee's some of them might come out to tell us how seething they are ??

Re: In the press but no comments allowed
I think they have made a huge mistake stating the legal fees will have to be paid from the Fund , clearly they were hoping this would inspire the public to start donating again ! It appears to be backfiring big time ! The people are nowhere near as gullible as they were in 2007 when they gave their money to search for a little girl

The huge gap between published comments (19!!) and arrows (some >7000) proves that censure is very active.Bayonne wrote:You are right.pennylane wrote:Bayonne wrote:The comments in the mail online tell a tale of a tired public.

Re: In the press but no comments allowed
I've only just seen this latest report, it was rather a long way down the Mail's homepage - must have missed it.
Plucked out the most obvious quasi quote..
A family source told the newspaper: 'We hope the appeal will be successful. If they lose there will be a big legal bill to pay which will come from the fund set up to find Madeleine.
'When Operation Grange ends Kate and Gerry will have to finance their own private investigation again. They will never give up searching for Madeleine and worry that the continuing legal action could wipe out money they has put aside for this.'

Allow me to suggest a simple solution Mr and Mrs McCann - don't do it! You won't squeeze a dime more out of the public but I think you might find that Mr Amaral will have no problem in that direction. Gerry put your adams apple away and Kate your shabby dress - once and for all. Wonderful comment snipped from the Mail ..
"I would be very upset if I'd paid into the fund to find Madeline only to find the McCanns using my contribution to fund their own personal court cases."
12,281 green arrows v. 330 red arrows - OOOPS awkward!

All it takes is one well heeled individual to say hang on, I gave money in good faith. And make a legal challenge of being mislead. I doubt it'll happen, but you never know.
