Absolutely fantastic - the first "small step" for the truth about Madeleine. Lets hope the "giant step" follows very soon. Nice to have positive news for a change.

Excellent - look forward to the full details.

The Portuguese Court of Appeal ruled emphatically in his favour well over 5 years ago - October 2010 - followed by a Supreme Court ruling in March 2011 which endorsed 100% the Appeal Court's verdict.

So why has it taken another 5 years to get back to virtually the same place again?

Will the McCanns risk another appeal to the Supreme Court?

I look forward to the banner headlines in the tabloids tomorrow 'SUCCESS FOR PORTUGUESE TEC IN MADDIE CASE' - and hopefully no more, er, lies about Goncalo's alleged 'lies'. yes

Is this why there was blanket coverage in today's British mainstream press headlining Operation Grange's claim that 'we have reasonable grounds for thinking that Madeleine may still be alive?

There's £750k in the Find Madeleine fund for the search that hasn't been spent on the search as OG is doing the search.

I'm all out of typing the word 'search'.

If this story about the successful appeal turns out to be true (let's keep EVERYTHING crossed that it is), I would reply with:

1. Yes - they will appeal to the Supreme Court because they have the cash to do it, and Gerry will never admit defeat. Narcissists never do. Plus it will delay by months any cash payments they have to make.

2. Yes - it looks like the MET were tipped off in advance to permit them to plant these stories as part of the official UK 'whitewash' line - indeed to strengthen it with the headline "she may still be alive" (rather than the traditional - "we don't know what happened but it defo wasn't the McCanns")

This further suggests that the McCanns still have allies in Portugal - the original judgement suggested as much - and it may just be that the Appeal Court and Supreme Court are outside their influence. Let's hope so! This is potentially a huge judgement.
