Six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams, disappeared from her bed Saturday night

Post by kangdang on 02.08.10 15:28

A bit strange this one, seems the lass vanished from the family home Saturday gone night. Possible abduction. Dear looking lassie too.

Scores of police and State Emergency Service volunteers have spent the day searching bushland in Sydney's west for missing six-year-old girl Kiesha Abrahams.

She was reported missing on Sunday morning from the Mount Druitt unit she shares with her mother, stepfather and two siblings.

Friends and relatives say they have not seen Kiesha for two to three weeks and she has been absent from school.

Kiesha's mother told police she last saw her daughter on Saturday night.

Police say it is unclear whether the girl wandered off alone or was taken from the family's unit, but there are no signs of forced entry or suspects at this stage.

Her stepfather's brother Jason Smith says the family is desperate for answers.

"She has left a big hole in our heart, we are missing her dearly and we'd just like her home," he said.

He says Kiesha is not prone to wandering.

"She's just very quiet, down to earth... doesn't talk to strangers at all."

He says he last saw his niece a few weeks ago at a birthday party, soon after her mother had given birth to her third child.

"As far as I know she hasn't been at school for the last week because of the newborn baby," he said.

"Last time I saw her was three weeks ago at my brother's [place] - his son's birthday party. She was there, she was quite happy, enjoying the pony rides. She was a happy little girl that day."

Superintendent Wayne Cox is following up reports that Kiesha has not been at school.

"I believe she's had some absences and we're certainly making inquiries with relevant government agencies in respect of that," he said.

Police will not say whether anyone other than the girl's mother has seen her in the past three weeks.

Today police extended their search for the girl to include bushland and drainpipes in the nearby suburb of Bidwill.

They have spoken to Kiesha's biological father, but they will not say whether or not he is being treated as a suspect.

The Community Services Department says it is deeply concerned by the case.

Kiesha was last seen wearing pink pyjamas and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who has information on her whereabouts can contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A bit strange? I would say that was very strange, what`s even stranger is than there are no McCanns on the bandwagon. Very fishy.

Where is the pink one anyway?

No idea where the clarrie is Sharon.

Re this case, it seems that the little wasn't seen much, if at all, over the last few weeks. One media outlet has reported that she only attended school 5 days this year! The mother and step-father are refusing to talk to the media, family are saying it is because they are too upset to speak out...I think otherwise.

Biological father walks, step-father enters scene, biological mother has siblings with step-father, Kiesha starts missing school and finally she disappears.

ABDUCTION FEARS: Kiesha Abrahams was last seen wearing pink pyjamas and a purple Pumpkin Patch jacket. Picture: Supplied A MISSING six-year-old girl was absent from school for a week before she disappeared, police say, as they began searching drains. Kiesha Abrahams vanished from her home after being tucked into bed, and may have been abducted. Authorities continue to search for the girl who has not been seen since Saturday night. Police and emergency service workers are searching stormwater drains in the western Sydney suburb where she went missing. The little girl was last seen at 9.30pm on Saturday when her mother, Kristy, put her to bed in their Mount Druitt home. She was reported missing 12 hours later, sparking a large search involving up to 100 police, police dogs and State Emergency Service volunteers of areas close to Kiesha's home.
The extensive search covered rear yards, homes, parks, stormwater drains, bushland and nearby shopping centres. Mount Druitt local area commander Superintendent Wayne Cox said today searches were continuing to be made of stormwater drainage systems in the area, as well as bushland in nearby Bidwill. A stormwater drain was wide enough for someone to walk into and there was one in a recreational area that Kiesha and her family visit regularly, Supt Cox told reporters . It is unclear when Kiesha was last seen by anyone other than an immediate family member. Her step-uncle Jason Smith said her disappearance had left "a hole" in her family's heart. “We're missing her dearly and we just want her home,'' said Mr Smith, who is the brother of Kiesha's stepfather Robert Smith. Police do not know whether Kiesha wandered off or was snatched. Her mother has told police the front door of their home was ajar in the morning and possibly unlocked the night before. Police have been told there was no sign of a forced entry. Kiesha had been reported absent from school for the last week and Supt Cox said police were speaking with school authorities in relation to her absence. “We are speaking to all family members and relatives to confirm the last sighting of Kiesha,'' he said. Jason Smith, who last saw Kiesha three weeks ago at a birthday party, said her absence from school was due to the birth of her new brother. Her parents were “distraught'', he told reporters. “They'd like to be able to talk to you but at the moment they can't find the words. They're in too much grief.'' Earlier on Monday, friend Kylie Wakeling, a family friend, said Kiesha was not given to wandering off on her own. “She's like any other six-year-old who loves to play and muck around,'' Ms Wakeling said outside Kiesha's unit. “She's definitely not a wanderer. She's very quiet and sticks to herself. “I never thought this would happen to them.'' Kiesha lives with her mother, stepfather Robert Smith, three-year-old sister and newborn baby brother. Supt Cox said Kiesha's biological father had been notified of her disappearance and was not a suspect. Kiesha is described as being of 140cm tall, of slim build, with brown hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing pink pyjamas and a purple Pumpkin Patch jacket. Anyone who has seen the girl or knows of her whereabouts should phone Mt Druitt police on 9675 0000 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000

I find it quite odd that her mother did not check in on her between 9.30pm and 10.30 am. As a parent, I always check in on my children before retiring for the night...I believe that is pretty much the norm in the world of parenting.

Several other things in this case stick out like a sore thumb

Initial reports indicated her mother found the door ajar. The NZ Herald reported Monday that the door was closed.

There were no signs of forced entry and police say it’s not clear if Kiesha wandered off or was snatched

People close to the family say they haven’t seen the little girl for weeks but that when they saw her she seemed fine.

The norm is when there is a new arrival, family swarm round, especially if they live close by (so much so that they become a pain in ass!).

Family friend Kylie Wakeling said Kiesha was a quiet little girl, who never answered the phone or the front door.

"She's definitely not a wanderer. She's very quiet and sticks to herself," said Ms Wakeling, who last saw Kiesha at the same birthday party as her uncle.

Her stepfather's brother, Jason Smith, says he saw her a few weeks ago at a birthday party when the missing girl's mother had just given birth to her third child.

"Last time I seen her was three weeks ago at my brother's, his son's birthday party. She was there, she was quite happy, enjoying the pony rides. She was a happy little girl that day."

Is she not normally happy then?

A sad, tired and troubled looking little girl imo.
Is that bruising around her right eye and to the left of her mouth?

Latest Media Releases
Strike force formed as search widened for missing six-year-old girl – Mt Druitt area
Tuesday, 03 Aug 2010 10:32am

A strike force has been formed to investigate the reported disappearance of a six-year-old girl from her western Sydney home almost 48 hours ago.

The mother of Kiesha Abrahams told police she found her daughter missing from her bed about 10am on Sunday (1 August).

Kiesha was reportedly last seen about 9.30pm on Saturday (31 July) when she went to bed at the family’s home in Woodstock Avenue, Mt Druitt.

A thorough search has already been undertaken of bushland near Mt Druitt and Hebersham.

Today’s search effort will involve police from the Public Order and Riot Squad and Operational Support Group and SES volunteers and focus on the Whalan Reserve and Ropes Creek areas.

A canvass of homes in and around Mt Druitt overnight has failed to turn up any new leads and police will continue a doorknock of the area tonight.

Strike Force Jarocin has been formed to examine the circumstances surrounding Kiesha’s disappearance. Detectives are working closely with other government agencies as they continue their inquiries, which will include a review of Kiesha’s school attendance records and any relevant welfare reports.

Police have renewed their appeal for information about Kiesha’s disappearance and urge anyone who might have seen her to come forward.

She has been described as being about 140cm tall with a slim build, blonde hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing pink pyjamas and a purple ‘Pumpkin Patch’ jacket.

There has been an overwhelming response to NSW Police Force’s Facebook page from members of the public but anyone who has information that might assist investigators is urged to contact them directly.

Anyone with information about Kiesha’s disappearance or current whereabouts is asked to contact Mt Druitt Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Post by kangdang on 03.08.10 11:05

Today the family appeared before reporters to ask for help to find her.

"If anyone has seen her can they please contact the police," her mother said, visibly upset.

When asked what her daughter was like, she replied, "she was beautiful" before breaking down.

Ms Abrahams' partner, Robert Smith, said they are finding it very hard.

"Last time I saw her was, we were watching a movie together, you know?" he said.

"Anyone, someone must know something. Please come forward. She's beautiful, you know? Funny, always happy."

Police say as far as they know, no-one else has sighted the girl since about July 9.

Detective Inspector Russell Oxford says that was when the girl's grandmother saw her.

Video of mother's appeal can be seen here - http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/08/03/2972084.htm?section=justin

Includes step-father talking and Keisha's maternal grandfather. Step-father describes her in past tense too. Note the interiewer does not set the scene for this by refering to Keisha in past tense.

One has a deja vu feeling, and would have thought this was a terrific opportunity for Team McCann to prove to a disbelieving public that abduction can happen in these circumstances.

And here we go, the truth is finally starting to come out -

TRAGIC picture of little Kiesha Abrahams' life was emerging yesterday as homicide police joined the search for the missing six-year-old.
Police sources revealed that, as a toddler, Kiesha was admitted to a western Sydney hospital with a bite wound inflicted by an adult.

The injury suffered by the pretty blue-eyed girl was yesterday described by a source as a "significant bite wound".

It has also emerged that Kiesha was known to numerous government departments, such as education and health.

But most of the harrowing details of her life cannot be reported for legal reasons.

Kiesha had not attended school for the past week and yesterday it was revealed she had only been to school for five days this year.

THE disappearance of six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams from her Mount Druitt home has raised questions about the actions of welfare authorities, who were previously concerned about her well-being and substance abuse in her family.

Government agencies declined to comment yesterday about their involvement with the family, but questions remain about when the child was last seen by outsiders.

Meanwhile, specialist homicide and sex crime detectives joined the investigation - an ominous sign that hope is fading, although officers were still talking of finding her ''safe and well''.

Police denied reports that an investigation at the family's home had failed to find any clothing belonging to the child.

Clearly this poor child has suffered at the hands of those who were supposed to care for her.
She was admitted to hospital as a result of a bite wound by an adult, more news will just continue to horrify us I fear.

Where is she? ... Kiesha's mother Kristi Abrahams and stepfather Robert Smith / Pic: David Marshall Source: The Daily Telegraph
Detectives have visited the house where the mother and step father of missing Mt Druitt girl Kiesha Abrahams are staying - taking the pair away in the back of an unmarked police car.
Kristi Abrahams and her partner Rob Smith were lead out of the house and to the waiting car.

Ms Abrahams shielded her face with a catalogue. Mr Smith used a hooded top to hide his distinctive hair style.

Neither would make any comment as they were led away.

They were taken to the nearby Mt Druitt Police Station.

Police have confirmed the pair are not under arrest.

"They are being questioned again as part of the ongoing investigation," a police spokeswoman said.

She was reported missing from her family unit on Sunday morning - her mother claiming she last saw her at 9.30pm on Saturday. Searches have failed to uncover any sign of the child.

Guilty as sin.

A quote I have heard many times in the past three years!

Short news report on the questioning of Abrahams. Police have apparently found blood traces in the apartment. We also hear Abrahams speaking with the media, again she repeatedly refers to her daughter in past tense...she was happy, she was funny, she loved macaroni and cheese! This woman gives of no sense of hope that the child is still alive.

And from Martin Brunt:

So far, the story has reached only a little further than the Geelong Advertiser, a morning paper in Victoria.
But the circumstances of six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams's disappearance are likely to attract a far wider audience if Aussie detectives don't find her soon.
Her mother said she tucked Kiesha in bed in the family home at 9.30 on Saturday night.
The next morning the front door, thought to have been left unlocked, was ajar and Kiesha was missing.
It's early days and there are many differences, but so far, like Madeleine McCann, another little girl appears to have vanished into thin air.

lawny,

The only incompetent and ineffective people in Madeleine's case are the parents and the tapas friends.

I must agree with you on one thing, the PJ made a big mistake and it was not arresting the parents as soon as they came to the conclusion that they were lying and not cooperating with them.

Can't blame the McCann's really, there's the fund you know.

Very different stories, indeed, but I suspect with a common ending: this "thin air" place, where children disappear into, when their parents try to hide their true destinies from the police.
Poor Madeleine, poor Kiesha. Half a world apart in life, united in their fate: "Thin air".
Let's see if Kiesha's parents are as good at this business as the McCanns...

Zandra, that link you provided makes for grim reading. Poor Kiesha

Apart from mum and step-dad, NO ONE had seen Kiesha in THREE WEEKS?????

Hmmm........

The Aussie police have also been accused of bungling the search for Kiesha:

"Police bungle

Police media yesterday admitted bungling the first information release about Kiesha's disappearance after the number for a Blacktown car yard was left for people to call if they had information."

Oh dear, Martin! Kiesha's mother and step-father are informally helping the police with their enquiries and who knows where that will lead since no one apart from immediate family has seen Kiesha in three weeks.

Yes, like Madeleine McCann, Kiesha has vanished into thin air. We also have an unlocked door and no sign of intrusion or an abductor. Like most cases of missing children, sadly little Kiesha's story looks like it's going to turn out to be family involvement.

Posted by: lawny from East Anglia on August 4, 2010 1:56 PM
I would expect that the Australian police have a far more effective and logical way in searching for the poor little girl. Whenever the Maddie case is mentioned one of my first thoughts is just how incompetent and ineffective the Portugese police seemed every step of the way of the investigation.

Posted by: ShuBob on August 4, 2010 1:51 PM
Thanks for the link, Zandra. So like in Maddie's case, HOMICIDE police have joined the search for little Keisha.

Martin Brunt knows exactly what he's doing linking these two cases!

relating another child story, I see that the woman who's child was found dead in a tumble dryer is been held, not for murder but for her duty of care towards her son.. Why was nobody in the T9 group held for this???

Siobhan, you must remember these were a bunch of professional people so therefore naturally excellent parents.
The tapas 9's children, fortunately, were all ok - well except for a baby with diarrohea, a child who had just come out of hospital, oh and one that unfortunately went missing. But the McCanns are adamant that Madeleine is still alive and has come to no harm. So there you go, no harm done and they do still have another two spares.
Unlike the woman you mentioned whose child died - now there we have a body AND a culprit. But then, she's probably not a doctor.

What can you expect? The McC's have shown the world how to get rid of unwanted children and get rich. Karen Matthews tried the same scam but it didn't work for her. Now it's the turn of these parents.

I wonder how many more children will be lost whilst their parents copy the McCs?

Well done McCanns for orchestrating the biggest hoax of the century and putting childrens' lives at risk.

Re: Six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams, disappeared from her bed Saturday night

Post by kangdang on 05.08.10 14:56

THE step-father of missing six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams yesterday revealed police had asked him to take them to the little girl's body.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Telegraph, Robert Smith said that homicide detectives had identified him as the key suspect in the little girl's disappearance.

"Absolutely, they think I did it," he said.

Mr Smith denied killing Kiesha, saying he loved her as if she was his own daughter.

During a formal police interview on Wednesday night, Mr Smith said investigators "got tough" with him and demanded he reveal where Kiesha's body had been dumped.

He said police assured him they would "help him" – with counselling and care – if he disclosed what he had done.

"They said 'Lead us to her body' and that sort of thing. It was pretty tough," he said.

Asked if he killed Kiesha, or if he had hurt her in any way that may have accidentally caused her death, Mr Smith denied it.

"There is no way in the world," he said.

Mr Smith, his partner Kristi Abrahams and Kiesha's father Chris Weippeart were all questioned separately by police the same night, but Mr Smith appeared to be the only person asked where the body was.

"Kristi said they didn't ask her that," Mr Smith said.

Mr Weippeart said he was questioned about his relationship with Ms Abrahams, as well as asked to recall relevant dates since Kiesha was born.

"They sort of just wanted a timeline ... they didn't mention no body," Mr Weippeart said.

Police yesterday denied they had given up hope of finding Kiesha alive and were searching for a body, despite divers spending most of the day yesterday scouring dams in Marsden Park.

"The longer it progresses, the graver it becomes ... but they are keeping an open mind," a police spokeswoman said.

Although Mr Smith was upset by some of the questions police asked him, he said he was happy to tell everything he knew if it meant finding Kiesha and bringing her home.

"All I can do is tell them what I know," he said.

Kiesha was reported missing on Sunday morning but had not been seen by the rest of the family since about July 7.

Police last night confirmed they seized a vacuum cleaner, a computer and clothing from Mr Smith and Ms Abrahams' house for forensic testing.

She should take Ma Healey's advice then and get a bigger bosom then perhaps people will be more sympathetic.
