How curious. The British press have, IMHO, done more than the fund itself to perpetuate the notion that Madeleine is out there somewhere with reported sightings (which have been shown on more than one occasion to have no actual basis in fact) all over the world making the front pages. Yes, there has been a shift with the SY investigation pointing more towards Madeleine being dead but they are only following the lead given by SY (and it's beyond doubt that many supposed "insider" stories purporting to be from SY have come from elsewhere). In fact up until recently the press seems to hae been very much more active in "searching" for the child than the fund has.

Why on earth would the McCanns want to go after the press again? A bit ungrateful surely? And why should the fund web page promote this? Isn't the fund all about finding Madeleine? A wee slip because - and I'm sure many will forgive me for this thought - it comes across from that single action of pushing for a Levenson II that the fund is purely their for the whims of the parents! Surely that couldn't be?

I think they have been seriously rattled by Sonia Poulton seeking to find a broadcaster for her documentary. They also fear that Brenda Leyland inquest will reveal who compiled the infamous dossier and the death threats made by their supporters. If they think they have had a hard time to date, that'll be nothing compared to what ' ll hit them if indeed it turns out that trolls and shills have been paid by anyone associated to them. IMO the proverbial brown stuff could hit the fan quite soon.

aimed through Twitter and other media at Brenda, either directly by, or with tacit support of, the McCanns. We know that some of those were apparently sent by people outside the jurisdiction, and others by people who on any test are in need of urgent psychiatric help, but there are others who deny being mad or vile, and who could therefore be tracked down and prosecuted, as BHH explained.

Of course if there is a documented evidence of the McCanns or Mitchell or any member of the extended family specifically distancing themselves . . . then it should be shown.
But I haven't seen it.
They do have their own donation machine = web site where this could have been done.
But they haven't.

Maybe because one of the cases with most emotional leverage in the Leveson case was the hacking of a murdered school girl's phone. Of course no-one would disagree that was abhorrent....which makes it an ideal shield for people to hide behind who wouldn't want any private hacked info coming out which may shed light on the death of their own daughter...as the case may be, or not!

Who cares what they want - I know some zelebs do, but the many members of general public don't, especially as a lot of the gen. public want to read what zelebs and others are up to.

IMO some of those who want Leveson to shut the press up are hoping it will save them a fortune in court action to keep their business out of the papers.

The gen. public love a bit of scandal and wont support it IMO.

The FM webmaster together with Kate and Gerry and Clarence should march with the placard "Je ne suis pas Charlie" in front of Parliament Building to set example if they want people to call on their MP to implement Leveson. Otherwise they are just cowards asking people to do their dirty work for them.

Come on, show us you have the guts to take to the street to call for curtailment of Press Freedom of Speech.

The Leaders of the free world, (and a few others) have gone on display in Paris for FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
And have spoken to camera about how important it is . . .

Carter-Ruck are probably tomorrow opening an office dealing in Mortgage applications and Real Estate, and another dealing with Tax Avoidance and Off Shore funds.
Mitchell has just seen his entire "raison d'étre" (if only he could understand what that meant) destroyed in an instant

It seems unlikely that the MP for Bromsgrove will be recommitting to any part of Leveson:

Coming on the back of Charlie Hebdo where millions of people including world leaders of different nations of which UK is one amongst them have turned out in Unity March in Paris supporting Freedom of Speech, there is no way in hell this government is going to implement Leveson.

McCanns' wishing thinking will simply have to continue to boil their blood, as everything is, when they cannot get their way.

I am surprised they've not taken that down from the website given the gravity of the situation in Paris.

The pair are the only strange creatures on planet earth that are going against the flow of world's sentiment.

Although they talk a lot of it, balls isn't a quality I associate with the wee one and his spouse who have long been outnumbered by reporters whenever they make a public appearance at anything other than a group event such as a football match, church gathering, or Missing People Gala, aiyoyo.

To continue with our imaginary scenario, outside the gates of no.10 Gerry will claim that freedom of speech has harmed ~~his lucrative marketing strategy~~ the search for Madeleine, Kate will ~~whinge~~ say that it's most inconsiderate of Mr Cameron to be away from home after she'd gone to the trouble of arranging childcare to travel to London, and the ~~family source~~ prospective MP for Brighton Pavilion will deplore the right of constituents to openly express their views which has severely diminished his chance of election big grin

NB: Ms Fat Ankles will have taken herself off to feed her face at MaccyD's in Whitehall and ~~Who~~ Hugh Grant will have sent his apologies from Paris where he's been detained by ~~a charming courtesan~~ unforeseen circumstances.

So far, so predicable, but what I'd like to hear is JK Rowling, well-known writer and champion of liberal causes, explain why she isn't standing shoulder to shoulder with the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo.
