Sources close to the investigation involving the search for missing British toddler Madeleine McCann have this week told The Portugal News two British expats are set to be declared formal suspects or arguidos. Another two Britons will be called in as witnesses.

Dates for questioning have been confirmed as being from November 24 to 28 at the PJ police headquarters in Faro.
Sources said the questioning of suspects was unlikely to stretch beyond this period.
The Portugal News revealed last week (6 November) that the Metropolitan Police were keen to speak to a number of British expats in the Algarve.
Any new requests will have to come in the form of a new international letter of request.
Sources said there are 11 people of interest, of which seven will be declared arguidos, and four will be heard as witnesses.
There are two Britons in each of these groups.
The two British witnesses are a couple (a man and a woman), but the two British suspects are said to be not related in any way and are both men.
The seven suspects do not include any of the four arguidos, all of whom are Portuguese nationals, questioned over the summer.
The Brits were all resident in Portugal at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance and have remained here since, sources said.
The theory that Madeleine was abducted by someone passing through, remains a scenario which Portuguese police continue to believe to be among the most probable.
Portuguese police had earlier this summer ruled out Cape Verdean national Euclides Monteiro, who died in 2009, of any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance.
Police sources confirmed that Monteiro had been the primary reason behind the case’s reopening here in Portugal last October, but subsequent
investigations removed any suspicion over Monteiro.
The news of the exact dates for the questioning of new
suspects comes after the new Public Prosecutor in Portimão, Inês Sequeira, gave the green light to a fifth international Letter of Request received from British authorities
in August.
Police sources here meanwhile said that they had not yet received an official request from Scotland Yard to sit in on interrogations, but said this feature of the investigation was a mere formality.

All planned.

All part of a genuine investigation - or just for show to influence public perception?

Very similar language we read (officially) in this case. The way the police interact with the press has changed a lot.

Whether it is for the good (genuine investigation) or bad (whitewash) we'll have to wait and see.

I think ultimately we'll get a bit of both. Some will be thrown under the bus and most/all of the really high ups protected.

In reference to 7 out of 11 are going to be declared arguidos??? That's a lot of arguidos leaving only 4 that are not going to be declared arguidos. Wonder how they arrived at those people being suspects in this case?
So are they saying 7 people probably abducted Madeleine? Sounds like B.S. to me

I think if they are going to make 7 people arguidos/suspects i hope they have some damn good reasons for doing that, and i hope if anyone is innocent among that lot of arguidos that they sue the state for whatever they can, for what will probably be libelous accusation of their good name if it is plastered all over the media, and their name is dragged through the mud.
This whole case just seems very evil and implicating innocent people for what was the responsibility of the parents and their negligent actions toward their children that resulted in the disappearance of their eldest child. If those two had of been responsible parents none of this would of happened, and people wouldn't of died because of them, and wrecked other people's lives into the bargain. It's always everyone else's fault but theirs, who the heck do they think they are? What a sham it all is.
I really hope Mr. Amaral sues the pants off them successfully, at least one little victory in all of it would be some little semblance of Justice, because i don't think Madeleine will ever get any justice, unfortunately.

A BRITISH man and woman are among seven due to be questioned over the disappearance of Rothley youngster Madeleine McCann, it was reported.
They will all be interviewed as suspects between November 24 and 28 in Portugal, according to ITV News who claim the development follows extensive reviews of mobile phone footage.
It is claimed that five men, a British female and a woman of eastern or central European origin will be spoken to by detectives about where they were when three-year-old Madeleine vanished in Portugal in 2007.

With so many arguidos and witnesses interviewed or to be interviewed, I like to think that DCI Redwood is eliminating all other possibilities. 
Arthur Conan Doyle stated "One should always look for a possible alternative, and provide against it. It is the first rule of criminal investigation"
